Looking for something that works and isn’t paper based because that causes a huge mess. Last time I used Tumblefresh it ended up all over the floor just from my bun jumping in and out the litter tray. I currently use wood pellets and it’s okay, but I’m looking for something better. Megazorb was an option because it’s heavier than paper litter and my bun doesn’t cause a mess with it, but it’s expensive.

I used to have the same problem with litter. I use the Kaytee Granule bedding it works really well in keaping the scent down.
Here is the link to it http://www.wag.com/smallanimal/p/kaytee-soft-granule-blend-small-pet-bedding-119026?ici=wa_d_FBTImagetoPDP&icn=Personalization_FBT&ref=pd_fbt_wa_de_t1sp_d_2_im

I (and I think quite a few others) use Yesterday’s News. It’s a bit pricey, but works really well!

Is there a Petco in  your area?

I use planet petco paper pellet litter for cats. It is paper, but it is pelleted, so it is denser. The reason I buy the cat brand is because you get like more pounds for cheaper, and it is more odor – controlled than the rabbit litter of the same brand. (Yes, I did ask an HRS about the odor controllers in the litter, and she said fine and my bunnies have been fine.)

I don’t know what you are willing to spend, or how much litter you go through, but the litter is 25lbs for $12.

Are you in the UK? (I recognize Megazorb as a uk product).

You might find the pelleted paper litters neater then Tumblefresh. Or try a combo of paper litter and wood pellets on top.
What type of wood pellets are you using?

What is your hesitation with the wood pellets? That’s what many people use and it works well for absorption and odor control. I’m not familiar with those other brands unfortunately as I’m in the US.

Turns to sawdust and then it’s a mess to isolate from the clean pellets. I usually end up cleaning the whole litter tray even when less than half of the pellets turned to sawdust. If I don’t clean it out the dust sticks to my bun’s feet.

You could try a mesh screen over the pellet litter.

Here’s a secondary box i have for Rumball. He actually seems to prefer it. The other one with his hay has a plastic screen with wider holes.

It’s easy enough to remove most of the soiled litter then mix the remaining pellets around until a full change is due.

Honestly, I find it kind of futile to try and separate out clean litter from dirty. I think it’s easiest to just completely dump out the box and start fresh a couple times a week if you really need to keep odor down. I only clean my boxes once a week and keep adding hay to the top and they don’t smell (though the bunnies have their own room so I might not notice it as much).

A screen over the litter will do wonders for keeping the dust off of their feet, as will putting hay down over the litter.

Wood stove pellets!! You can buy pricier litters but I don’t think they do a better job odour wise and they certainly aren’t as absorbent -wood stove pellets are totally my choice.
