My beloved Dino has gone missing, indoors. My heart is breaking we have searched everywhere and cannot find him, hear him ,see any poop or anything.

Basically I was away at work yesterday so my mother in law was looking after them. They usually stay in the kitchen during the day and there’s a stair gate so they can’t get out. However Dino sometimes manages to fit through the bars and usually comes upstairs looking off me. But I wasn’t there. At about 10 am it was realised he was missing and upstairs there was a pile of his poop and wee on the carpet but he wasn’t there!! Upstairs we have a loft which we think he could have gotten into but it’s very hollow so we would have been able to hear if he had.

He has just disappeared, I can’t wrk out where he is or anything because I don’t see how he could have gotten outside and it’s so out of character for him to hide like this, we have searched the house top to bottom, even asked the firemen if they  would come in but they wouldn’t. This is the worst day of my entire life.

please someone help me I can’t cope with loosing my baby I need him back ASAP, this is the worst thing ever and I am really really devastated does anyone know what could have happened

Does he have a favorite treat or food? He could have found a very hidden spot to sleep in, try putting little bits of his food around, and fresh water too, in case he gets thirsty.

          Hope he turns up soon!

OK…. Have you checked inside mattresses and pilows… Mine chewed a hole in the giant throw pillows and would get inside…. Several members have had instances of their bunnies getting into the mattress or couch by chewing the lining underneath.. Look for anything he could have climbed up onto that may have a cavity he could enter…. Look inside large shoe’s if he is a small bunny, also handbags etc….

Wicker or sea grass boxes would be easy to chew an entrance into…. I would go room to room and be very systematic, even if you think a space is too small he may have gotten in but is unable to get back out.

Also a good thing to do would be to make your house very quiet, then go into each room and listen for 10 minutes or so, see if you can hear anything. Place carefully measured salads and pellets around the house, along with water. Check the food often and see if any has been eaten. Place paper bags around the house, you should be able to hear if he runs across. Look in everything. My bunnies can fit through a two inch gap. Good luck!

Look in every place you can think of. I’ve had mine hide in a closet when the sliding door was cracked open by 2 inches. They can squeeze their little selves into the craziest places. Also check your beds. Mine has also chewed and hopped into the box spring a few times and I had to literally drag her out. Look everywhere and in everything. Shake a favorite treat bag or pellets. Good luck!

Great! You must be so relieved!
I lost Jersey once when she was about 7 months old. I remember being devastated, thinking she was gone forever.

I’m betting Dino will be determined to keep going to his hiding place when he can. Could you put some wire mesh (hardware cloth) across the stair gate?

Awww so glad to find a happy ending when I looked at this thread. I often “lose” Nessie but my apartment is small enough that we always find her in a minute. Usually just hopping out of somewhere like it’s no big deal. The longer it takes to find her the more I panic though lol

You must have been so relieved… I know when Pepper first got into the pillows I spent hours looking then when I picked up one of the big throw pillows and it was a couple of pounds heavier than it should be I was giggling hysterically, when I finally got her out I just sat and hugged her (much to her disgust) for ages.
