Hi, I live in Wilmington, Delaware and will be away for a week next month. How do I go about finding a good bunny sitter in my area for 2 buns? They’re not bonded yet (female getting spayed this Monday) but should be (hopefully) by then. Does anyone have any ideas for me? Thanks!

          Two ideas:

-Ask any rescues in the area if they know of people who rabbit sit.
-Search yelp or other sites for companies that specialize in pet sitting. I use one and they are insured, do background checks on their sitters, etc. When I’m gone, a women comes over twice a day to let them run around, feed them and clean up a bit. A little pricey but not much more than boarding them at the vet.

Thanks Dobby! I’m looking thru care.com now, and will be asking their vet on Monday. I hope I find someone good!

Great! Maybe NBO can bunny sit for you – just what she needs, another rabbit! (just JOKES NBO!). Good luck Reno Beno, and enjoy your trip. Cheers.

All great ideas given so far! Another option, do you have a friend/family member who can stop in to feed/water them once a day? Or a trusted neighbor? Not everyone hires professional pet sitters if they have someone they know nearby.

Lol if I lived near you I’d do it! Although AndHenry has a good idea too

I have no idea where I would be able to put them because I just got a new bunny a few days ago who isn’t yet bonded to Sally and Harley haha and his/hers bunnies aren’t bonded yet so that would be two more cages to find places for :o. Yeah, I wouldn’t have room! If I were a bit closer I would stop by to feed and water but I’m all the way in Dover lol.

But when you find someone to bun sit. Or have someone come over provide a basic care sheet and emergency contact information if something were to happen. when I left for 3 weeks I just had a friend who has never had bunnies and didn’t really know anything about them watch them. I provided a care sheet and they did just fine!

There is a great care sheet template here…

I’ve used it for my sitters and they were very appreciative.

All of y’all’s ideas are great!!! I’m gonna keep looking, and I like the care sheet idea. I’m not THAT adverse to taking them with me. I’ve taken Reno on car rides to SC and GA before, staying in a hotel with him and he did great! He actually loved traveling! But it’s gonna be hard with two buns who are ALMOST bonded but not quite there yet. If they do bond before I leave, I could take them. Fingers crossed!
