My 1.5month old rabbit was having a cereal based pellet mix which isn’t ideal so i wanted to get him a better quality pellet however i cannot find good brands anywhere where i live.

Is there something homemade that i can give him so that he doesn’t keep on having this cereal based pellet mix?

I don’t think so. What brands do you find where you live?

You can order some form the site store here, Amazon or another online retailer. You can also check with feed stores or co ops that have livestock feed, they usually have rabbit pellets too and any timothy or alfalfa based pellets would be better than the grain based ones you have now.

Im finding Deli Nature and Beaphar.

I live in Malta though and nobody sends to Malta(Europe)… I tried Amazon and some others… Is shipping to Malta available from the site store?

Can you get any of the DeliNature without the “extras” – it looks like they have some of the pellets minus the extra “goodies”.

Or even the Beaphar without the “extras”.

Sometimes you just have to go with what you can get due to the limitations of where you live :~) and what is available.

I couldn’t find anything other than the mixes… What i did today was try and select through the mix lol but obviously that is not very efficient…

I agree, that is not efficient at all.

So I guess what I would do in this situation is just feed fresh alfalfa (lucerne) and grass hay – what can you get in regards to that?

Also I would slowly slowly introduce veggies – I know it’s not recommended until they are older because basically the idea is to replicate what the mother was eating but in this case you may have to introduce some greens a bit earlier.

Hay is not a problem to find. He has timothy and alfalfa at the moment. Ok then, ill stop giving the mix and start on very small amounts of greens. Ok thanks a million

                        Is meadow hay any good?

Meadow hay is fine – it’s good to have a variety so adding that to the timmy and alfalfa is a great idea.

So i’ve been feeding him a very small amount of rocket and basil and i’ve noticed that sometimes his pee is rusty in color. I’m assuming this is normal becuase im feeding him a small amount of greens right? Should I be worried?

That is normal. Pigments in the foods he eats will affect his urine color and anything form pale yellow to dark rust is normal for a rabbit.

So if the food is green, his urine turns rusty orange?

Not necessarily. The orange-ish color comes from carotene in the food. So when he eats food with a lot of carotene, his pee will look orange-ish.
