Hello – We are going to be going away for a few days in about a month (and I’m already obsessing about bun’s activities) and he’ll be looked in on a couple times a day by a rabbit experienced sitter. It will of course be a little different though and he won’t be out of the pen as much as normal so I want to make sure he’s as happy as possible and eating well. He’s an excellent hay eater right now, but he’s only on timothy. I’ve read that they love orchard grass as well. Is this consistent with everyone’s experience? Is it just as healthy as timothy?

        Thanks!

          Hi,

My bun, Cookie, is on Orchard grass hay. From the research I have done, it is really pretty much just as healthy as timothy. Cookie loves orchard grass hay and refuses to eat timothy. Also my dad is allergic to timothy. Cookie also sneezes when around timothy. Every bunny is different, your bun might actually like timothy more than orchard.

My three love orchard grass hay.  But, they also love timothy (any cut) and recently decided they love oat hay too.

My buns (and from what I hear, most buns) like Orchard Grass. It’s a healthy alternative for Timothy as they are both grass hays.
