Ok so today I got my new dwarf bunny (about 1.5 months old) and when I asked the previous owner what kind of pellets she was giving him, it turned out to be a pellet brand that says it has higher protein levels. This pellet brand isn’t the best right? It should be higher fibre content rather then higher protein, right?

Also I’ve read that at this age, the bunny should have unlimited access to pellets as well as hay. Is this correct?

How old is the bun? I thought you said it was three weeks old a week or so ago.

What brand is it? Can you tell us the nutritional content here?

Young growing bunnies should have unlimited pellets. All bunnies should have unlimited hay always.

He was three weeks old when i talked to the previous owner couple weeks ago.. He’s now 1.5months old.
The brand is ‘beaphar XtraVital Rabbit Junior Feed’ but I can’t find any nutritional content information though. Just descriptions.. :/

I would switch ASAP, that stuff is Muesli (grain) based and, a few shops have stopped selling it for that reason. It can lead to dental problems, GI issues, excessive weight gain and, nutritional deficiencies.

Yes at six weeks the rabbit should have unlimited pellets and hay but, not those pellets. Get something better and gradually switch him over.

Ok thanks. I’ll buy something else and gradually change his pellets over a week. Thanks a lot

What is the best thing to do if i don’t find the previous make the bunny was eating from?
Could i just start with the new pellets (give him a little at a time) without mixing in the previous brand?
