        – Are there good pellet brands other than oxbow?

        – Are there any good hay brands or places to buy hay?

        – Does anyone know any good online websites or pet stores or shops to buy good rabbit toys?

        – Does the binky bunny store ship to Australia?

        – Can all Australian rabbit owners go sign the pention to get the myxomatosis vacine allowed in Australia?

              Welcome boundingbunny : )

I’m another Aussie rabbit owner (ahem- slave) on here. Great to see more join.

              What State are you in?

I can tell you what I feed:

I buy barastoc pellets and feed small portions only. They are reasonable and fit close to House Rabbit Society guidelines for a good pellet. They 21% fibre, 16% Protein and under 3% fat. So not wonderful, but better then most we have here!

I buy oaten hay bales from a fodder store. We have great quality oaten hay here in SA. I pay $11-16 for a bale (approx. 80x40cm). Any hay that is considered horse quality is suitable for your rabbits.

Ill leave others to suggest online stores as I don’t frequent them much.
Keep in mind some cat, dog and bird toys work just as well for rabbits.

Unfortunately the BB store doesn’t ship here. You can get things like the Maze Haven at bunnyworld.com.au though.

We have had the petitions come up on here a few times. Do you have a link to a current one?

Hello fellow Aus member! Roberta and I are from Western Australia – what state are you in?

I use oxbow pellets, as expensive as they are, they’re the best brand out in every country in my opinion!
I buy hay from a local pet shop, it’s oaten eating hay, although I know here in Perth you can get Meadow hay also!
Pop on over to http://www.bunnyworld.com.au for some rabbit toys, pretty much (give or take) the binkybunny Aussie mimick!
You got a link to this petition?

                – Kate

Hi from the sunshine (bloody HOT again!) state of Queensland. Guess what I’m doing next boundingbunny? Jumping into that awesome site that Jersey and bunnygirl just mentioned (I had no idea???? Thanks guys). Maybe I can get something more fun for Henry to play with besides his 20 toilet tolls? LOL! Cheers boundingbunny. Andi (Henry’s mum).
PS – I buy Oxbow pellets and hay, but I have no choice being a QLDer. I’m grateful I can at least go to a pet shop (30 minutes away) and get that (that’s all they stock – he reckons it’s the best, along with a lot of other BBer’s). Being the non bunny state, I am not able to access anything bunny wonderful, so was devastated when I realised I couldn’t purchase from the BB store. I haven’t heard of the petition, but would be really keen to sign it……

My bunny Metoo, a white mini-lop, will be ten years old in October. We have been very careful with the types of food we feed him since his purchase almost ten years ago at the age of 8 weeks. We mostly feed him oaten hay, Oxbow adult rabbit pellets and some veggies after he became an adult. But over the past month or so he has been losing weight, from 1.8 kilos to 1.53 kilos. We took him to the best vets in Sydney, Sydney Exotics and Rabbit Vets in Artarmon (Dr David Vella is best known rabbit specialist in Sydney). They performed urine test, blood test and X-ray on him and found nothing unusual, except probably some arthritis issue in the hind legs. Painkiller was prescribed. His dental check result was also excellent. I gave him a bit more lucerne hay (known as alfafa in North America) but the vets advised against feeding this type of hay to adult rabbits because of the high calcium content and recommended feeding him Oxbow young rabbit pellets to help him put on weight.

I did Google search and read that feeding rolled oats may help rabbits gain weight. I have been doing this for a few weeks but so far have had no success. I have been feeding him Oxbow senior rabbit pellets besides hay, because I saw this type of Oxbow pellets when I went to the store to buy Oxbow young rabbit pellets.

Metoo is almost as active as before and his appetite is definitely as excellent as before. I wonder if anyone else has encountered the same problem and how it was solved successfully if it was dealt with successfully. Thanks.
