        Hi,

So my rabbit was neutered on the 28th of last month and he has been doing great and almost stopped humming but how long will it take for the hormones to go away?? I don’t know if this is hormonal or if he just wants attention but when I walk around he follows me sometimes and when I stop he runs up ( if he is not already behind me) and scratches at my pant legs and starts chewing on it. What does he want??

        Thanks

Some rabbits are just more vocal than others – my rabbit Bobby is a grunter. He probably just wants attention.

Leopold will scratch at my shoe or pant leg if I’m not getting the pellets from the bag and into their bowl fast enough. I imagine your bun is doing it because he wants something from you. It could simply be attention, like Sarita said. Or it could be something else.

Yeah, this sounds pretty normal. It might not be hormone related at all. Rabbits like fabric, so maybe he’s just “tasting” your pants… :o)

One of mine has always done this, and she was spayed a couple years before I got her. Some bunnies just like to scratch at fabric, and also like to do things to get our attention.

My Lola makes a humming noise as she runs around the room and when she wants me to pet her…does this mean she isn’t spayed? (The person we got her from wasn’t the original owner and didn’t know) She is also constantly running around me in a circle and sometimes pees while she is doing it.

My Yohio has been neutered for 10 months and he grunts and runs up to me and scratches for attention. I don’t think it’s hormonal, just rabbital =)

Lola, the running around in circles, esp with the peeing, is classic bunny-courtship. It’s not totally conclusive though, you need to take her to a vet to determine if she’s spayed or intact.

I already made her an appointment. It’s just not until the end of the month and I am impatient to know the answer! lol
