Took the first steps in introducing Holly to my dog, Buster, today! The hope is that she’ll eventually be free roam and get along with our other animals (she already gets along with the cat ) First introduction went great! Holly is ever fearless and was not phased one bit by my pretty energetic puppy. We kept the dog leashed just in case, but all in all it was pretty successful.

Do your buns get along well with your dogs/cats/ferrets/ other pets? I’d love to see pictures/ hear stories!

I’ve tried to acclimate Lily to my dog. Hasn’t gone so well so far, but we’ll keep trying. I’m glad Holly’s doing a good job though. She’s getting so big.

Both of mine could really care less about the dog. If they come out in the living room, the dog will usually approach them. They touch noses and sniff, then the buns just hop away and ignore her. I think it hurts her feelings because our chinchillas (had them before bunnies) would want to play with her. These new “chinchillas” don’t want to play. They aren’t afraid of her or anything. They just really do not care about her at all. LOL

After these pictures Holly started chewing on an alfalfa stick and the dog starting whining because he was being ignored. haha Nothing really phases her.

Diamond, Holly is getting big! She’s been growing like a week. lol

On a side note LB, how did you like having chinchillas? I’ve always wanted some but never felt like they would be a good “fit” for me.

My chinchillas were a delight! They both lived to be like 10 years old. I had heard stories of them living to be 15 though. They had wonderful personalities. My girl had a serious attitude and wasn’t afraid of anything. My boy was more timid, but liked to cuddle. They would get so hyper when playing. Running around the room and doing their own chinchilla-version of binkies. My girl loved to jump up and push off the door to their room. I think she liked the clunk sound it made. Anyway, they loved our dog so much. They would run up to her and hop on her back. They would sniff her ears and nose. Then they would scurry off in what appeared to be a deliberately slow pace. The dog would follow them under and around things. It was adorable!

Aww, I love Buster! Holly too, of course!

Oscar is good friends with our cat Lily:

They love to play together .

Oscar gets along fine with our dog as well but they mostly ignore each other.

I bet Holly and Buster become friends in no time! Do you have other pets besides the dog and cat?

My bun got along great with my dog and cats. I never had a problem… With the exception of having to keep the dog calm because he was a puppy yet and didn’t know his own strength.
Rabbits and ferrets tend to gene really not mix in my experience… Though ferrets are used to “ferret out” rabbits. They want to eat them. Don’t get me wrong… I Love ferrets. I just haven’t had a good experience with them together.

LB, you’re making me want to consider a pair of chinchillas again! haha Though right now we already have a mini zoo.

Hazel, Oscar and Lily look adorable together! Lily is such a gorgeous cat, I love that last “derp” face though haha And yes, I do have other pets! I also have two bearded dragons, a snake, a tortoise and a hamster! We’re quite the animal lovers here. LOL The only “friends” Holly will have though are my dog and cat.

HECA, I didn’t think about that with ferrets! I actually had a ferret as a child and I remember him being rather rough with our cats so we had to keep him in a separate room.

Aww that’s too bad. I had 4 ferrets, and they got along very well with my cats and dogs.

It wasn’t so much that my ferret was “mean”, he just didnt understand that the cats weren’t other ferrets. He would try to play fight with them and grab the backs of their necks in a playful way, but it was a little to rough for them. I’m extremely glad how well Holly is getting along with everyone as I had been a little worried beforehand.

BTW, your avatar picture is adorable!!
