Cadbury is now 7ish, maybe 8 months old. Not neutered (will be getting done on the 19th of this month, finally!). He spent all of last week at the girl-friends parents house, who has a three year old fixed-female miniature schnauzer – the two got along great. They cuddled in the same bed even.

He was there because we where in Mexico for a week. This was his first time with another animal.

However, I replaced his cage with a three story bunny Condo (which he was introduced to today) and has taken it fairly good. He explored the top two levels after an hour or so. However, two things have happened:

        1) He doesn’t go into his log-house anymore, like he always used to, he prefers to lay beside it,

        and

        2) He lays on his side. Like stretched out, belly facing forward, head down on its side, sprawled and fully extended. When you approach the cage, he will still will run up and great you (and expect a cheek rub, which we learned he absolutely loves).

I’ve never witnessed him on his side like that before, is it normal? He acts normal still, but it stands out to me as something different. Is he just lonely now? We do plan on adopting a second bunny, one that is all ready fixed, and plan on introducing them and letting them live together. Would a male or female be better?

        Thanks,

        Cody

Hey Cody! I don’t have an answer as far as your Cadbury being attached in that short time period? Sorry! But as far as Cadbury laying fully stretched out on his side – that’s means he’s comfortable and super secure in his environment (your/his home), so good on you!!!!! Enjoy your new room mate, cause he is no longer a guest, but part owner of your home! Ha ha ha ha…..

Edit to ADD – if you intend on introducing a bunny partner to your Cadbury, I don’t think it makes any difference on sex (especially since I know you would have them both desexed – you are awesome!), just that they get along. Make sure Cadbury has lots of dates and let him choose his partner, not so much you….. Cheers!

AndHenry is right!  Cadbury sounds like one happy bun!

I suspect you may have gotten the “OMG IS HE ALIVE?!?” reaction?

            I completely understand!

Ha ha ha ha…. Gosh! you make me laugh manic! Did you poke Bumpy with a stick? Or wait for his belly to move up and down? (like I do), LOL!

Edit to ADD – I am still laughing when I look at Bumpy’s pic – I am wiping the tears from my eyes!

                A bit like this??????

Edit to ADD – Oops! I promise I did put my folding away. How embarrassing!

lol I know I’ve posted it before, but it makes me laugh so much when I see it. I didn’t poke him that time, because I was pretty sure at that point he was alive. I ran for the camera (tiptoed) snapped the picture and then stared at him without blinking until I was sure he was actually breathing. But the first time he flopped over like that, I nearly had a panic attack freaking out that my brand new rabbit had already died.

Edit: Hey!  You’re getting good at posting pics now!!  LOL yes just like that!  He looks so comfy!

I hear ya manic! SAME! Dam those bunny’s! Ha ha ha ha……

Edit to ADD – He better be comfy! In my bed (as always)…… LOL!

Great pictures of rabbits in the OMG is he alive-position! First time Yohio made a full flop, throwing himself on his back, feet kicking in the air, then rolled over on his side, my heart nearly stopped. I thought he had a seizure.

AmuseMe, by now I’m sure you’ve realized that the lying-on-one-side means all is well in bunny-land.

Bunny-dating is a good idea later if you want to give him a companion. Some rabbits just hate each other, so it’s best if they can choose a partner themselves.

Yep bam, when Henry did the ‘flop’ the first time – I literally thought he dropped dead! And I swear I didn’t take a breath till I saw that he did. While I went into a panic, Henry just snoozed away. Every time a new bunny owner asks for advice, I try to remember to ‘warn’ them about the bunny FLOP! I can laugh now, but not at the time….. naughty bunny’s! Still laughing from tonight’s pic’s though…..

Gracie goes one better and stays on her back and doesn’t move when you call to her! I instantly go into panic mode

In our house, the bunny on his/her side position is referred to as “cozy”!  Wait until you see your bunny stretch and yawn!

Thanks so much guys! Was a little worried about it, as he has been doing it a lot! But since posting this, he now does it all over the place. In his house, on the rug, beside the dog, etc.

During the day, when he is most “lazy” I find him laying like that, waking up, hopping over to the water bottle, then his hay. Then he hops to his litter box, does his business, and flops down again.

What a great thing to see. I am always so glad when Albert flops and binkies. It is just the ultimate expression of happiness.

Kbana! Yes – why?????? All’s I know is when I wanna see YOUR pic’s I have to jump from internet explorer into google chrome! It’s annoying (cause I don’t know why either???), but it’s always worth it to see YOUR pictures! (and I’m grateful I can do that, I’d hate to miss out altogether).

The picture of Henry is just the standard ‘Henry photo’ – him laying, passed out on MY bed again! LOL!

Oh, and after I posted the pic – I noticed you could see my folding (that I hadn’t put away) in the background  – OOOP’S!

I was terrified myself when Ziggy 1st did the bunny flop. I think we all have hilarious pics. I have one of Ziggy with his little legs sticking straight behind him. lol!
