I just adopted my first bunny. Her name is Lola. She is 18 months old. I have had her almost a month now, we picked her up on Feb 21, 2014. I don’t know for sure if she is spayed or not. The person we got her from was her second owner. She told us that the person she got her from said she was spayed but that she had some behavior issues that suggested maybe she wasn’t. We have an appointment for her at the end of the month to make sure. Lola’s personality is a mix of calm, naughty, and sweet. She likes to chill out on the floor somewhere or in her cage, she likes to lay next to me for some pets, she likes to rub her nose and chin on me, but she bites when I stop petting her (sometimes really hard), she also loves to run around the room like she’s in a race and takes a few funny hops now and then.

We also have 2 dogs, a cavalier king charles spaniel(Hobie) and a yellow lab(Tiny), and a bearded dragon(Rango).

Welcome! I LOOOOOVE Cav’s They are all the rage!
Hopefully your vet can shave a little tummy fur on Lola and tell you if there’s a scar. Otherwise, they probably can’t tell if she’s spayed.
Yup, those bunny bites hurt! I leaned into my bun’s cage last night to reach something and she bit my armpit! Ouch!
Well, she is a real cutie pie! Enjoy! And keep those electric wires covered. Tends to make hubbys mad when their toys are chewed up

Another lop! Yay! She is a very pretty girl, and her attitude is very much like my Lulu’s. Oh those ‘love bites’ sure can hurt! Luckily I get more nips than bites mixed in with bunny kisses. How is she with all of the other animals?

@Megabunny I LOVE my Hobie! I have wanted one forever. I am very fortunate that my husband loves animals as much (if not more) as I do. We picked him out on our honeymoon! One look at those adorable faces and I had my dream puppy. The first thing I did when we got home was check to make sure the wires were all hidden. The ones for the wii in the pic are the only ones she can get at but I put a box in front of it when she is out of her cage now. The vet said I would have to just make an appointment for a spay and they would have to look then.

@BunnyLady1989 She gets along okay with our cavalier but she hasn’t really met the lab yet except through the cage. The puppies are still very young (under 2 yrs) and I am worried that the lab will be too rough. She doesn’t listen very well when she’s excited so I figure better safe than sorry. Lola doesn’t seem too scared of her from the cage though. She will hop right up and sit nose to nose with them now.

How did you get your buns too stop biting so hard?

                  Welcome!
                  Lola is beautiful!
When she bites you, make a high-piched sound so that she knows that biting hurts you. She may not realize that she is hurting you.

Your new bunny is beautiful! Welcome to you both. Would love to see more pics and of your dogs as well. I LOVE Cavalier’s, they are my fave breed. If I ever got a dog, that’s the breed I would get.

Your bunny is sooo cute!  I was just looking back through last year’s bunny magazine and there’s a picture of a baby bunny the same color as yours — told my husband I needed one like that but I just got “the look”.

Please be careful when introducing and supervising your bunny and lab.  Labs are known to be great with people of all ages and generally get along with other animals, but are instinctively hunting/sporting dogs.  Small animals like bunnies move fast and erratically and labs often interpret that as “catch me if you can”.  Labs also seem to take a very long time to grow up — we have a 12 year-old lab “puppy” who patrols our backyard for imaginary enemies.  My three bunnies live upstairs and our lab downstairs and while our lab *never* goes up the slick hardwood stairs, she heard a noise and did head upstairs one day.  Practically scared the bunnies to death (they all thumped for hours) when she barked for my husband at our bedroom door and I don’t even think she went into the bunny room. Needless to say, we now have a baby gate at the foot of the stairs and one at the bunny room door.  Just be aware that your beautiful new bunny is still prey and your lab is a big baby who just wants to play.  Hopefully your lab will get along great with your bunny and I’m just paranoid!

HECA. Love that Petfinder…except I get on it just to window shop, which can be dangerous.. I want my hubby to drive me to Michigan to get a tiny Jersey Wooly. That’s only somewhere around 9 hours one way. What’s the problem?

@JackRabbit — I am being super careful with the two girls. My cav, Hobie, is so sweet and gentle it’s amazing how polar opposite two dogs can be. He just lays down next to Lola and wags his little tail like “Don’t be scared, I want to be your friend”. Tiny on the other hand is super crazy and wild whenever she meets anyone (human or furry) it’s hard to let her out of her room even when we have people here, even if its just family. She does calm down eventually but those first few minutes (or hour) is rough. I have said numerous times to my hubs already that she may never get to be around Lola. AT least not until she’s about 12 yrs .

Aw they are all so cute! One day they will all be the best of friends Unfortunately the high pitched yelp doesn’t work when Lulu decides to nip. Lol I guess that’s her way of saying, ‘I don’t care. You are my slave and I am the boss!’
