wanting to give my penelope the best life possible i thought about getting her a companion, but that being said…i don’t really have my own desire to take on another rabbit. I would do it though if that is what she will need to be happy, I have a bird that we rescued and when i learned birds are happier in pairs we got our bird a little friend..and he is happy to have his friend. I am hoping to hear that my bunny will attach to us, or even our dog who likes the bunny ALOT.. but if being around another bunny is what she needs to be happy, i can probably swing my thoughts to adding another adorable bunny to our home.

No she does not need another bunny for a companion. It may be a good idea if you work long hours and don’t have a lot of time to play with her, but if she gets plenty (3-4 hours a day) of human time, she is perfectly happy as an only rabbit.

Many rabbits prefer being an only rabbit, they are by nature, territorial so, being an only rabbit means she doesn’t have to share her space with another rabbit. That means even if she is not spayed, there will be less marking and, no reason for her to get aggressively defensive of her things or her space.

Buns ARE social animals, but they do perfectly fine by themselves. Just make sure you spend time with her

I would say that she is fine. Many bunnies and other animals do perfectly fine with just their human companion. I also have a bird and he has been ‘alone’ his whole life (he is almost 13). I agree with BlueMoods on what she said. As long as you give them the attention they need they will do fine. My bunny is bonded completely to me and our bird is bonded to my mother, and we all work and get along just fine Especially since you would rather not, being as it is a huge deal to bond and the extra finances and time involved I probably wouldn’t.
