I have a rabbit that I rescued from a couple. She is a large rabbit and was in one of those small wire cages from Petsmart. I brought her to my office where I work and she has full run of the office. She is completely litter trained and everything. My only issue is that she ATTACKS people. When you walk by her she lunges at you, makes this growling noise and claws at your legs. I want to know what I can do to make this stop. I don’t want her to do this to any of the customers that come in. I want her to be a happy bunny. I don’t know why she is so angry all of the time. Please help!

It most likely is that she is still learning to trust people and that will come in time. Rabbits really like a routine and maybe it’s just not routine enough for her yet and she is still fearful.

This is fear aggression – not evil aggression.

Also is she spayed? That can help as well plus the fact that it will eliminate uterine cancer which unspayed rabbits have a high risk of.

My rabbit used to do this when I got her and it wasn’t until I got her spayed several months later that she calmed down. It used to be so bad that I had to wear long pants around when she was out or she’d bite or scratch my legs. Post-spay she has gotten a lot sweeter and almost never attacks. I also got her a new cage with multiple levels and moved it to a room with more traffic.

Well I’ve had her for about 2 years so I would think she would be used to things by now. Lol. I don’t see how this could be fear aggression only because she will chase you down from across the office to get to you and scratch you. Lol. I guess I should get her spayed and see what happens?

I think spaying would definitely help. It sounds like territorial behavior to me.
