Okay, it’s official. The last box has been unpacked, We’ve moved in. Well, actually, we’ve been moved in for about 4 months, but I haven’t had the time to come back on here. Which brings me back to the topic – I need better time management skills. A few of the people on BinkyBunny who are still in school (and maybe a few who aren’t) might understand. I am trying to balance school, homework, cheer leading, swimming, a social life, time to work on the habitat, and a little sleep!  I recently had to break up with my boyfriend because I don’t have any spare time to see him. Right now I’m supposed to be writing an essay, but I really need help on this soon. Does anyone know how I could avoid getting overloaded with work because right now I am so busy and I seem to either have JUST BARELY enough time to do anything or not enough. I get distracted really easily and I used to be able to need like 10 minutes at home to do my homework but now that and sports and BinkyBunny are taking up most of my day. Please help me or else I”ll go crazy!

I understand. Even though I’ve been out of school for years,( lol thank God!) I still sometimes have trouble with time management with working a fulltime career, being a bunny mom and a birth mom, and every other thing that I have to take care of. Eventually you just learn to juggle everything, at least that’s how I see it. But yes…Binky Bunny can be a huge culprit When I was in high school I ended up having to cut down and I had to quit cheerleading. Even though I didn’t really really want too, it did help that it became too…oh whats the right word…prissy? lol. But I knew I was better off so I could focus on school, which was very similar to a prep school because the grading scale was incredibly difficult, and my almost full time job.
Sorry I’m not too much help, but I think you will get it all sorted Good luck!

I’m a student too, and I have a few suggestion…don’t know, but you’ve probably tried them, LOL
              Ok here:

Make an after school list or schedule

If you have a laptop, do some school in your buns’ pen (two birds with one stone!)

LIMIT BINKYBUNNY TO 15 MINUTES A DAY…IT’S SUPER ADDICTING!

If I think of more, I’ll post them. Oh, and whenever you feel like you want to interrupt something important, write down the fun thing you want to do, and wait until you’re done with important things first. Hope this helps!

Ahh, time management.. the bane of life

Step one: remove the distractions. If you’re doing homework, put away the cell phone, do not click the browser button on the computer unless it is strictly for homework reasons. No TV on, music is fine, unless you get up and dance. Then no music

Step two: schedule yourself! It’s why a lot of people have calendars. Schedule downtime in for yourself every day, or you’ll get burnt out. The rest of the time, stick to what you have scheduled yourself for. Don’t stay with friends longer, don’t overdo the homework either! Get it done, but don’t push yourself past your limits.

Make sure not to skimp on sleep. The less you sleep, the more tired and unmotivated you get, makes you more likely to get distracted, less likely to get stuff done. Your brain does better on a good sleep schedule.

Thanks! @Monkeybun I’m going to get a schedule soon! And in that case I probably won’t be able to have music on. @MK I will probably be doing homework in the bunny pen as soon as I get the rabbit! Haha but we need to make the hutch and dad wants to insulate the garage first. ? lol @LBJ

Schedules are the main big issue. I procrastinate – BIG TIME – and it’s the worst. I’m just about to head into senior school, when all the workload gets 10x bigger, and every single one of my teachers this year have lectured about time management, schedules, procrastination, work loads, sleeping…etc etc etc. one teacher even spent an entire lesson just planning our schedules with us. And it’s worked for me! You do need to push yourself to stay with it, there’s nobody there threatening to hit you with a big stick if you do get distracted, but as soon as you get into routine, schedules are so easy to follow!

Plenty of sleep, eating healthily…stick to a schedule. Good luck!

Ah, time management… so much fun I feel like I could do better with mine, but I guess it’s been working for the last months.

A couple of things that have helped me:
                      – Very detailed to do lists! Nothing like: write preliminary exam. Instead I break down big tasks into the smallest element possible, like: read paper X and write notes. Transfer notes on paper X to prelim. Edit section Y.

                      – use SMART goals to keep you motivated. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely.

                      – Rewards are amazing. If I go through X amount of papers or write for a certain amount of time I get chocolate/icecream/tv show episodes

                      – Schedule time for each task. I use the pomodoro app to do this. It makes you work for 25 minutes straight, no interruptions, then you get a 5 minute break. After 4 pomodoros you get a longer break.

                      – Also, don’t forget to add time to relax, be social and to exercise. Exercise is very important to keep your mind working right

Only 15 minutes of BB a day? Yeah right! LOL

So I have some thesis stuff I can work on now. Plus a somewhat firm deadline for getting things done. I definitely need some better time management skills. I mean, I certainly know HOW to do it. I even know BubblesJo’s SMART thing. They teach they all the time at school. But knowing how and actually doing are two completely different things…………..

Well, I probably would advise you to not get on BB if it is interfering with your homework – BB should be a nice distraction for you between taking care of homework and your extra activities…those should take priority.

                          Get off the computer :~)

I’m with you LBJ! I WAS (past tense) always the one to do what I HAD to first, then I could relax….. But I found that I was always thinking ‘what’s going on with BB’ and got distracted. MY solution? I log into BB first, have a read and reply if I have too (and you know I ‘have’ too! ha ha ha). Then I get into what I have to do that day. Then as a treat after I’m done, I get more BB time!
Yes, I have had complaints from my family that dinner is no longer on time, (and the rest of it, ha hah), but we have a healthy happy bunny (that’s my excuse and I’m sticking with it for as long as I can!). LOL! My hubby’s response? He didn’t notice me spending that much time (if any?) researching care for our dog’s? Bugga – he got me there! Does anyone have any more valid excuses for when this one has worn out???? ha ha ha ha hah!

MK – 15 minutes? Are you crazy???? LOL! Cheers everyone.

As everyone else said a schedule is a good idea. Between taking care of my animals, cleaning the house, looking for work, taking care of my mom’s 8 dogs, dealing with the foster puppies and finding time to fit in my favorite shows and the online pet sim I play there is no way I can get everything done if I don’t follow my schedule that tells me when to do everything, lol. Other then that I have no ideas for time management.

I don’t believe in schedules. I do however believe in to do lists! After all my years of studying (2 university master degrees and an extra teachers’ degree) I have become quite the pro on the to-do list. :p

I’m glad all my student years are behind me because it was a lot of work. I never felt the need that I had to break up with my boyfriend because I didn’t have time for him though. Me and my boyfriend are highschool sweethearts and we’re still together after 11 years. We just belong together. So it’s weird for me to see you talk so lightly about breaking up with your boyfriend because he took up too much of your time. You probably made the right choice though.

I got some happy news though! The stress never stops because after school & university you first have to find a job and then go to work for pretty much the rest of your life.

Hmmm, this sounds like I’m really old but I’m only 28. Yikes!

Lol silver one day soon you will be their slave. The whole world revolves around them! I treat lulu like a child so she gets a lot of time, and that’s with a full time job. With all the time I do give her though sometimes I do feel guilty leaving her, but she is perfectly fine. But her and I are incredibly bonded…and I have no life lol

I think the amount of time spent depends on the rabbit in question. To tell you the truth, I often wonder if my two would even notice if I wasn’t there. I’m only good for one thing, you know.

I have the exact same problem!!! I find being in high school means there is always something to do.
Here are a few things I have found are helping me get everything done.
                                                      Have lists or schedules.
Multi tasking like have the bunnies out for floor time while I do home work
                                                      Pre making the bunnies salads
Not putting to much effort on me by not playing lots of sport and doing heaps of extras!
                                                      Hope these help!
