So although my Puck is male, he has a little bit of a dewlap that has been there since I adopted him. Well this evening I was trying to brush him (a challenge itself) when I noticed the space between his dewlap and chin was red was the fur was wet.  He licks his dewlap fairly often, and I guess it doesn’t dry there all the way and I’ve just never noticed before.  Between me and my boyfriend we were able to hold him for a little bit and look, and it just appears wet, the fur more yellow (instead of white), and the skin a little red, no sores or fungus growing or anything. I tried to wipe it with some clean water and dry it with a cloth. I only had minor success since both of us holding him got kicked in the face (he’s really strong and fairly big).

Should I be worried? Should I try again to clean and dry it?  Is there anything else I should look for?

Sometimes a yeast or fungal infection is not immediately obvious. Is there an odor associated with it?

Is it just wet in this one spot? He isn’t drooling or anything? That would indicate a tooth problem.

You said there was no sore or lump or anything there. So probably not an abscess.

No he doesn’t drool at all, and it didn’t really smell. I was able to finally dry it off with a cloth enough that it dried the rest of the way on his own. I think it’s getting wet when he drinks from his bowl and since the spot is between his dewlap and chin, it just doesn’t get the chance to dry as well. It may just be something I’ll have to check on everyday and dry off myself.

You could try switching him to a water bottle or nibbler valve waterer and see if that stops the wet dewlap problem. Any area that stays continually wet is a breeding ground for fungus and bacteria and, is going to be more prone to irritation and infection so, keeping it dry is important, especially since it’s already a bit red. That sounds like mild inflammation so, something is causing that and, chances are keeping it dry will help stop whatever is causing the inflammation.
