My Netherland dwarf, Chrome (about 3 months, male, unneutered) is super hyper. Totally chill and then spazzes out across my bed, practically launching himself into pillows and whatever else is in his path of destruction. I assume this is just typical healthy happy hyper bunny behavior, but what should I expect from this particular breed? I ride horses and have worked for years at a dog kennel, so I know how the breed generalizations go. There’s always exceptions, but for the most part, what’s this breed known for?

(Haha and the entire time I was writing this post he’s done nothing but lick my arm up and down. Thanks bub.)

          Awwww, sweet!
          Welcome to the forum

Actually rabbits aren’t like other animals with breed personalities. There are always generalisations, but personality really varies for each individual.

Still, if you’d like to know what the generalisation is, then what’s usually thought to be a typical netherland dwarf is high-energy and not as friendly as other breeds. So running around going crazy sounds about right! haha

            Welcome!

I have to agree with Tessie.

You know, stereotypes exist for a reason.

Yeah, a hyper ND is pretty common. Usually, the bigger the bunny, the more mellow, but of course there are always exceptions to that as well!

He sounds like a guy full of personality! 🙂

Smaller breeds tend to be more skittish, larger breeds tend to be more laid back. Netherlands are the smallest of the small,

Yep, Nethie = Hyper is the typical stereotype for that breed. Little bunnies just tend to be more springy. Then again, I don’t recall Wooly ever being terribly hyper. He’s a Jersey wooly, which was created by crossing Netherland Dwarf with Angora.

Manic, that video is one of my absolute favorites!! I wish my dwarf was more energetic, but when she was younger she truly was quite spastic. Hyper with a stinky attitude seems to be the general consensus for the dwarves. Bella was a precious snuggler when she was a baby, then she became a teen, then after the spay she became afraid of me and has been a royal brat ever since. Yayy for dwarves!!

Hahaha, they sound just like ponies… forget they’re little so their personality makes up for it. He’s a total spaz, but he comes and gives me kisses when I least expect it so I’m fine with that. He’s kind of an arse$!&$ when he feels like it, but then again so is my horse so I’m just used to it. He tried to fight a pile of toilet paper that was sitting on the bed and growls at the toilet paper roll when he feels it’s staring him down. Quite the badass, my rabbit. But as long as he loves me, I don’t care what type of paper product he tries to pick a fight with.

Ah yes, the nethies are just soooo scary rofl. I have one too, little Monkey. She was a hyper ball of fluff too, has settled down a bit as she’s reached middle age But, she still bounces off the walls when she feels like it!

I have a dwarf as well. He’s very much and individual in that he super lazy and has perfected his bunny flop on the couch, bed, carpet, litterbox.
He was neutered a month ago. Before then, he was starting to get aggressive. I remember my boyfriend being worried about being “attacked”. lol!!! I couldn’t help but laugh that he was scared of something that weighed 2-3 lbs. He way he told people about it you’d think Ziggy was a pit bull.

Lol rayray! I think bunnies get a bad rap bc of the Monty Python “attack rabbit” thing. People have this idea that they’re vicious!

Haha dwarfs. Lily’s not totally hyper, but she’s only my friend when I have treats, so I’d say she’s pretty breed-typical.
