Hello, my name is Courtney and I’ve had my Netherland Dwarf for awhile now, just never made an account, although my boyfriend has one.

His name is Oliver, and he is the sweetest thing, and so much fun to watch! He was very shy when we first got him, he would not allow us to touch him for months! Now he’ll let us pet his head and sides, and eat out of our hands, and when he’s out for play time he likes to come investigate us (: once we get him neutered we plan on getting him a play buddy.

we also have two noisy boy sugar gliders!

glad to be part of the forum (:

They’re quite fun little creatures! And a lot more work than my bunny! And messy, smelly and noisy lol, but they’re a lot of fun. Here’s a picture of one in his ball pit (: and some more of Oliver!

So cute! Are they tame? Like you know.. wanting to come to you and sit on your hand? Do they notice Oliver? Do they care? haha So intrigued! I’ve heard of them, and I’ve glanced at babies before, but never looked into them at all. Oliver is pretty cute too!

Sorry I haven’t been on in awhile! They’re pretty tame, they sometimes will let me pet them and like to investigate me and climb all over me, and jump on my face lol. But they’re not completely bonded to me, so I can’t have them outside of our bonding tent or bathroom. i think Oliver is more interested in them then they are of him lol. I have their cages pretty close to each other now so they kind of get used to each other.

Sugar gliders are a lot of work, and a huge commitment. They live up to 15 years, you need to have at least two, make sure they’re legal in your area , and find a vet that can take them. They require a large cage, a very specific diet, and there’s so much mis-information out there, and it’s sad how some of them are housed and fed. They also need a lot of stimulation, toys, play-time, and that’s also a big reason why you need two.

They make great pets, but they require a lot of work. Once they are bonded to you, it is quite rewarding. They will basically see you as part of their family, and the bond is as strong, or even stronger than a dog’s love for it’s owner. It’s also important not to separate them from loved ones because it can cause severe depression, like a human almost. Sorry for the rant, they’re just awesome little critters! Lol
