I’m getting surgery to straighten my broken/fractured finger tomorrow morning and i’m a bit nervous. What are your surgery experiences? I’m terrified of the anesthesia, I’ve never had it before

I think you’ll just drift off and not really care, due to all the happy drugs. I’ve had what was supposed to be heavy sedation but always happy to just fall asleep. As long as the people taking care of you are nice, you should do fine. Best of luck, Samuel.

I have had many surgeries.  The anesthesia is quite nice.  You just fall asleep before you know it.  Wake up and there you are.

                  Oh no… Poor thing. 🙁

I hope everything went well (and you can still browse around on BB while you heal!)

                  Quick healing Vibes!!!

My youngest son (when he was 14/15) broke his arm skateboarding (and again about 6 months later – DOH!) and luckily (?) cause it had to be dealt with ASAP (cause the bone broke through the skin) he (and me) didn’t have time to worry about the anaesthesia going in, but I do remember when he was coming out of it, he did have a bit of vomiting – but the nurse’s were so great and onto it, seriously it was so reassuring. So when it happened the second time, I didn’t worry for him at all. I reckon you’ll be all ok – though I do get your worry. Think positive! Cheers Sam and take care. Henry and I will be thinking of you for your quick recovery.

I had a Tibial Tuberosity Osteotomy last year, and, to be honest. it went absolutely fine.

Knocked out for it, a four hour procedure, and within about an hour and a half of coming out of surgery, I was on my way home.
Felt no residual effects of the anaesthetic or anything… Although, I was on enough Tramadol to confuse an elephant…

The link is only the first half of the procedure, but most people don’t want to see more anyway.

Surgery went fine, but I’m currently needing to take medicine, painkillers, etc. They put two pins through my bone!

                            Splendid that it went fine.

Are the pins permanent, or a temporary thing?…

I have a couple of pins holding my Tibial Tuberosity onto my Tibia, supposedly permanent, but I have an appointment to see if the bone has bonded enough to be able to remove them.

Um Sam…. what did you do to cause you to need to pins in your bone/finger?
My son had a plate put it his arm the first time (titanium, apparently unbreakable) but he broke it AGAIN and the plate! He did that skateboarding – he now reckons he is grown up ?????? now (21) and has given that sport up – but I can’t help but wonder, what did you do to cause that sort of damage? Sorry for being nosey…. LOL! Pleased to hear your on the mend – we were thinking of you. Cheers Sam.

Dodgeball-haha. My bone rotated and the pins are temporary.
