Every now and then I will find one or two pieces of his poop chewed up (almost like he crumbled it apart). Then there will be a piece of poop right next to it that is whole.  I see this a few times a week.  I was reading on the site and someone said it was from lack of nutrition.  Help please!

Rabbits are designed this way. They are supposed to eat their cecotropes(sp?), it’s perfectly normal. It’s only a problem when they are producing much more than they need, indicating their diet is too rich, and many times results in poopy butt.

Oh i forgot to mention these are definitely not cecotropes! This is his regular poop! I observed him today. He bent down as if he was about to eat a cecotrope and instead he took half a bite of his regular poop! I don’t know what is wrong with him. Plus he is pooping around the house much more than he ever has, no urine yet, but lots of poop (some half eaten and some whole). Any clue why he is acting different?

P.S. I have changed his diet recently. Before it was just pellets and hay. Now he gets a green salad, pellets, and hay. He is 5 months old.

Some bunnies are just poop eaters. I don’t think it necessarily means he has poor nutrition.

The salad makes his poop taste better? Sounds like he’s just greedy! Pooping all over, and given his age, sounds like hormonal territorial marking to me.
