        Hello,

I am a first time bunny owner and live in Oregon with my husband.  (We are empty nesters).  My bunny came home with me Sunday night.  He is a 2 year old Netherland buck and his color is Black Otter.  I think he is very cute!    He’s been taking it easy for the last few days, getting used to his cage and surroundings.  I haven’t been bothering him with the exception of giving him his food and water (and plunking some poops back into his litter box).  It’s hard not to scoop him up but I have to be patient!  I’m deciding on a name for him as we speak.

Thank you! I’m on the Southern coast.

I thought of a name for him and it’s Henry

I’m kind of in the mid-western part of Oregon . I never know what to call this area. Lol. There’s another member here Monkeybun who’s a bit farther north than I am (Portland ish Area I think ) .

Henry is a great name! I can never get over how small their ears are. So cute!

Thanks for the welcome! The previous owner took those pictures…and I saved them until I can take my own. I haven’t seen the white of his eyes since he’s been here and I’ve been told that means he’s becoming comfortable.

The white of his eyes? What’s that mean? I’ve never seen the white if my buns eyes and they’ve been here a year and quite comfy! Anyhoo, I giggled when MD commented about how tiny his ears were and how she can never get over it. This coming from the member who’s buns all have extremely long ears!

Also, Henry is so cute! I just wanna squeeze his cheeks and hug him dangerously tight!

Welcome!! He’s adorable!! Henry suits him well.
I’ve only seen the whites of Ziggy’s eyes when he’s trying to look infront of him.
You’ll know Henry’s a happy bun when he’s laying with his belly exposed to you and/or binkies.

Thank you for the welcome! The previous owner told me that he must have felt comfortable in my arms when I held him for the first time because she didn’t see any of the white around his brown eyes. I didn’t know what that meant either…lol. My ex pen should be arriving any day now and I’m so looking forward to having him roam around in a secure environment.

This bunny could probably use Monty’s ears as a blanket. XD

Welcome to BB!. Congrats on being a first time bunny owner! Henry is gorgeous! I love netherland dwarf rabbits and have 2 of my own. I love their ears as well! I read that you are an empty nester my husband and I recently became empty nesters ourselves. It makes me feel so old. I am also a grandma to an 18 month old and have another grand child on the way in July. Thank goodness I am a young grandma it takes a lot of energy to take care of these little ones.
Anyways congrats again I am sure he will enjoy his new home!

Thanks! Yes, being an empty nester at this young of an age (44), going on a couple of years now certainly brings about a new direction in one’s life so I thought a long time about getting a bunny. You are right Sindriona…it takes a lot of energy to care for little ones! I probably won’t ‘be’ there for a few more years or so.

I just turned 41 myself. I also got my first rabbits this past year. Henry will keep you pretty busy until you get grand children. hehe

                                        Those ears are so itty-bitty!

Now I’m starting to wonder how many of us are 40ish empty nesters. Lol

Bugga – do I have to admit I’m in my 40’s too???? Lol! No empty nest YET – I’m still working on it! Ha ha ha….
WOW! Another Henry! Besides my boy, your the second one this week – ‘cool’ name hey! Congratulations, he is absolutely beautiful – and sounds like he’s a very lucky boy. Cheers Henry’s mum from Henry’s mum, ha ha ha hah!

PS: NO grand babies for me – I can’t cope with my Henry! LOL!

42… non-nester! Lots of fuzzy and feathered babies have come and gone though!

I’m a non-nester and 44 =/ 2 bunnies and one dog. But expecting lots of more bunnies to arrive soon since I’ve stolen quite a bunch in the Who’s bunny would you steal-thread (in the Lounge-section of the Forums).

It really is hard to not scoop a bunny up. Their little bodies look like they were made for scooping up.

Henry is adorable. I might steal him too, so you’d better watch out =)

46! 2 kids still at home (1 gone WOO HOO! 1 to go and I’m stuck with 1 indefinitely, DOH!). 3 dogs (had 4) and “1” cheeky bunny!
Bam, I stole at least 8 bunnies (your Yohio included, thanks!) – I had to move the hubby out to the garden shed to make room for them all in my bed! Tessie’s Theodore (new HUGE bunny) got his own bed!
gk – what have you started???? Ha ha ha ha hah….. So funny!

LOL bam! My husband laughs at me when he catches me staring forlornly at Bumpy doing whatever he is doing in his pen. He’s so antisocial, it’s quite annoying. He only wants me when he might be getting food out of it! But yes… I often stand just outside his pen, even sometimes clasping and unclasping my hands because they just LOOK SO SCOOPABLE!

I’m 40… Empty nester soon to be non empty. My husband is getting his 11 yr old back after a long battle, and after we move back to Minny my 18 yr old son is moving back in… But I’m glad!

I just have one bun, 3 cats, and a dog. BUT I’m getting a handful of english angoras when we get back to MN. They will be for fiber, to my hubby, but for me they will be a bundle of fuzzy love that I can spoil!

Gk… I think most of us have the same problem, so don’t feel bad. We see a bunny and turn into this…

Good to know bunnies are the way to go for an empty nest! I’m not planning on having children so Ziggy gets all of my love (I’m sure he doesn’t see it as love sometimes). I tease my mum and call his her “grandson”. lol!! She said she wants a DNA test.
I do pick Ziggy up sometimes to hug and kiss him. Really it’s his own fault for looking so cute. And he’s got to earn his keep somehow, so until he starts taking out the trash or cleaning up after himself, he’ll have to pay me in kisses.

But my dog George is my daughter and I became a Grandma at the young age of 32 when she had puppies! It was so sad when the time came that I had to let MY grandbabies leave MY nest. Ha ha ha hah!
