Hey all, my rabbit had some matting close to his skin under his long hair.  After grooming him up he licked away the matting to where I felt more comfortable cutting it off.  Anyhow it left a dry skin spot.  My gf wanted to see about putting vaseline on it but after searching I read that bag balm might be a bit better.  Or vaseline in a very thin layer.  The spot is in a lickable area he can reach so I just want to know what I should do.  I was inclined to just let it be and let the fur grow back but it does look and feel a bit crusty now.  It has been about 2 or 3 days and while Im sure it will work out, Id like to take precaution and put something on it.  Thanks for any help!

I think if at all possible leave it alone. Bag Balm and Vaseline are so gooey and I don’t think either really sink in the skin.

Ok, I suppose Ill give it a few days and just keep an eye on it to see if the condition worsens at all. Hopefully it will be just fine.
