        Hi,

So I am really nervous about spaying my rabbit I have some questions

How long should you keep her in the cage?

If you have too give her water though the syringe how fast should you give it too her?

Should I ask for pain meds and if so how much would they be?

What temp should you have in the room after the spay?

How long does she have too stay at the vet office?

Can you pick her up after she is spayed? Because I have too put her back in the cage.

I am bringing her in a box do you think that is ok?

        Thank You

Sorry for all the questions  But i want to make sure I do this right

          Hi,
I’ll just try my best with the questions

I think it depends on the individual bun’s recovery for how long she should be in her cage, but I think at least a couple of days. You don’t want her to jump at all.
I don’t know about water through a syringe, I’d guess slowly?
Ask your vet about pain meds and see what they recommend. For me, I brought Luna in the next day so the vets could assess if she needed meds. I’m not sure how much they’d be.
I don’t know about the temperature of your room as such… You need to keep them warm, but a hot water bottle in a towel or a snugglesafe pad would be good. If I were you I wouldn’t worry about the temperature of your room too much!~
Some vets keep them overnight, some let them go home the same afternoon; check with your vet.
It’s not advisable to pick her up, although if you have to then there’s not much choice. Is there some way you could let her hop out of her carrier into her cage?
I’m not sure, but I would guess that they would want you to bring a proper carrier, not a box. Again, check with your vet.

Have you found a good bunny-savvy vet? That’s really important.
          Hope I helped a bit!

I would agree-A couple of days in the cage, this keeps them quiet and makes giving medication and monitoring poop easier

You likely won’t have to syringe feed or water, but if you do, just do it at a pace that it doesn’t get spit out

Yes-ask for pain meds!! If they say you won’t need them or any of that, just demand them. It’s a three day course, it’s not expensive and it’s can’t hurt might help. You don’t have to give them if she’s doing well, but you also don’t want to be trying to get back to the vet in an emergency to get them, or worse if it’s a weekend or evening. Just make sure you get them and you can always toss them if you don’t need them.

              Room temperature, no drafts

The vet should let her go home once she’s awake fully and has eaten a little bit of food. Bring her favorite foods with her so she eats right away. Give your vet your cell phone number so they can reach you after shes ready to go and you don’t have to wait any longer It’s a tough wait, but it should not be overnight, just a day surgery.

You don’t want to be picking her up-will her carrier or box go into her cage-that way you could put the carrier into the cage and open it and she can walk out into the cage? Or could you try out a ramp ahead of time so she can walk into her cage?

That’s great you can borrow a carrier! Make sure you give it a wipe with a disinfectant or soapy water first; If she transported another rabbit or a cat in the carrier it could expose your bun to something, especially if they were transported to the vet. Just give it a good wipe and it will be fine!

Lots of vibes! When is the surgery date?

That depends on how far ahead your vet schedules surgeries. You should call and find out. Some busier vets require you to make appts. quite ahead of time.
