        Hi there!

My boyfriend and I have to go visit his father, who went through surgery, and we need to bring the bunny with us because we’ll be there 3/4 days and we don’t have anyone to take care of Poopsy back home.

The trip takes 1h20 by car. How can I make it comfortable for Poopsy..? He only has been in the car for vet visits and it takes 10 minutes to get there..

Any suggestion will be much appreciated

Hey NIKiiRed! First off… What an extroardinarily beautiful bun! He looks like a scottish terrier(a little-just fluffier)

I really hope you get some good answers, I posted a similar thread about a week ago- my trip is on friday and its 3 hours on the road- and I there were so many threads that day, that it must have slipped through the cracks… I haven’t a clue… But I’m planning a proper carrier with fleece blanky, his soft toy and an ice bottle(its summer here and even with the car AC on its still warm) I’m planning to give him his veggies and pellets during the trip and veggies help with fluids and I’m don’t wana risk an injury with loose hay in the carrier! A small litterbox(corner litterbox) will also be included. The vet suggested rescue remedy to calm his nerves. I’m also going to leave icecubes in a dish as mango loves cold water and the icecubes mess less during a drive( first trip with a bun, but the chins loved it on trips)
For the “foreign land” I have all his toys and regular cage accesories planned,(my cage won’t fit in the car) so my sis and her BF are setting up a 2/2/1m cage for him in their washroom and bunny proofing it. That’s all I have been able to think of. And then to make it as easy and routine on him as I can. (Which may prove difficult as the 2 umbrella cockatoos at my sis’s house make the most horrible noise)

Good luck and maybe ill get some extra tips and alternative recommendations from your thread.

          Chow for now

Hi thank you so much for your reply!!
The pellets and the veggies are a really good ideia to keep him occupied and a bit more relaxed I hope..
I’m just worried about the trip.. We’re Taking the pen with us and all his stuff so he’s confortable and happy! And the room is big and confynfor him..

I hope you have a nice and safe trip also

Hi. It takes 2 1/2 hrs for me to get to the rabbit vet. When we made the dreaded trip for his neutering, I stuffed some hay in the carrier and he was fine. And honestly, I don’t think he even bothered to eat anything.

Knowing him better now, making the same trip, I’d just toss in his favorite microfiber towel in and maybe a few piece of kale in case he decided he wants to eat anything.

Niniliefie, good idea with the ice cubes… in the warmer climate, I’d definitely do that too!

I’ve taken 1.5 hour trips with both buns a few times. I put them in the “petstore” cages I had when I first got them. Their cat litter boxes fit in there, and I put hay in. I remove water for the trip because they never eat or drink. I would have a bunny first aid kit with you, just in case
