Hello everyone, I’ve just joined so not sure how everything works here but here goes.

I just had my 2 Female Mini Lops spayed, they are about 9-10 months old. Peaches and Nutmeg.

I got them home 3 days ago and ever since, Nutmeg has been making a noise like this:

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-RIfF2jru8    (20 seconds onwards)

Every time she cleans herself or eats. She still makes her grunting noise whenever I fill her food bowl because she’s very impatient.

I’ve heard her make this noise before but certainly never this frequent. Obviously she isn’t herself at the moment as she only came home from the vets 3 days ago and she’s probably quite sore. Does anybody know what this sound means? I haven’t noticed any sneezing from Nutmeg since she came home or any discharge from her nose or crusting on her front paws. Trying my best not to handle her so I don’t cause her any discomfort but I just want to make sure she is okay. Peaches seems very bright and active, they both have their normal greedy appetites so maybe I’m over reacting. She had a post-op check on Saturday morning and the Vet said she seemed very healthy and all was good but should I make a new appointment?

Thank you in advance for any advice!

        Xanthe

It certainly wouldn’t hurt to take them back to the vet and say what you said here. Best of luck.

Both my bunnies made odd little noises when they had been spayed and neutered, I asked the vet and she thought nothing of it, but maybe best to make an extra appointment with yours just to be on the safe side! xx

I didn’t hear anything…also this rabbit looks like a rex not a lop. Am I looking at the right video?

Anyway, I have had many rabbits who are very vocal – they grunt, snort, snore and it’s really not a problem – maybe it’s something you are just now noticing because you are more vigilant due to the spay…

She has stopped doing it today.
Must just be part of her character I’ve been over looking haha.
Sorry Sarita, I mean she was making the noises like the rabbit in the video, the sounds are very faint so you have to listen carefully. The rabbit in the video is not my rabbit Sorry for any confusion.
I have an appointment for tomorrow morning just to check of she can hear any crackling when she breathes.
                Thankyou everyone

I’m glad you are getting them checked just in case I don’t think it is anything to cause worry though.
