Whenever my bunny comes up and sniffs my arms or hands, it’s always a little damp. I couldn’t tell if he was just sort of licking or if he has a runny nose–his nose doesn’t look super wet or runny or anything. But today I just heard him sneeze a couple times. I know that alone, sneezes are usually nothing to worry about, but it made me concerned that this wetness I feel when he sniffs me is actually a runny nose and that he’s sick. What could it be? How can I tell for sure if he has a runny nose?

Are his eyes clear or do they have goop and crusty build up? It may be nothing, but I would get him checked out just in case. Last year my Lulu had a pasteurella outbreak and it started with an ear infection, then came the goopy eyes and some sneezing. If it were me I’d take him into your vet. It’s best to be safe than sorry

Both of my bunnies have wet noses sometimes and never had any respiratory issues. If there isn’t any discharge I wouldn’t worry.

I don’t see any goop or build up in or around his eyes. What exactly does one look for when trying to see if there is nasal discharge? What does that look like? Sometimes it’s a little wet looking and I can’t tell if that’s just drips from his water bottle.

It sounds like it’s just a normal thing. You can check his paws and if they have a yellowish appearance, it could mean an infection. Since they clean themselves all the time it would show up on their front paws. But from what you’ve said it could just be nothing to worry about.

My two currently have this problem, and they’re on antibiotics just to be on the safe side, as it seems to be a respiratory infection, and one gave it to the other. Nothing major to worry about as it’s being treated now – before it turned into a chest infection. Always best to check with the vet if you’re worried 🙂

Thanks. I think I will, just because I’m a bit of a worrier and now I might have convinced myself that I see a little gunk in his eyes. I drive myself crazy with worry :/

I am like that too, so don’t worry you aren’t the only worry wart. Keep up posted though!
