Hey guys I always buy 50lbs bags of pellets for my buns and put them in large plastic containers but this time one of them broke and I left the food in the back stored in a dark place closed tightly. Well seems like there may have been a leak because I just found mold in the damn food. I have been feeding this to my buns for two days now 1/4 cup each a day and unlimited hay. I feel like a complete moron for not noticing it sooner. Will my buns be ok? They look perfectly fine! Very alert and happy. I can’t purchase more pellets until tomorrow afternoon. Will they be ok ok hay only until then? It’s 9pm right now! I’m also buying a 37″ L x 19″ W x 20″ H. Cage for each bunny. Is that enough space? I currently have them in a c&c cage and they are not bonded. I don’t plan on letting them meet until the female has been spayed (male is already neutered)

They will be fine without pellets until tomorrow so no worries on that.

Mold is toxic to bunnies so definintely keep an eye on them and if they act strange/become lethargic I would take them to the vet. You might have caught it in time and not fed them any moldy pellets (crossing my fingers for you!). If they seem okay after 24-48 hours I think it’s likely they are okay.

On cages, those are a bit too small. Generally you want 4’X2′ for a single bunny. Most store bought cages are too small. :/

Thanks! One of my buns is really really dirty and constantly pees out of the box. I have liter tried everything. The pee tends to run towards the corner and gets stuck in the coroplast. I am constantly needing to take the cage apart and clean everything out and put the tape back on if not my room smells like a petting zoo. I clean the cages 2-3 times a day and any time I see pee around but this is not helping. Idk what else to do! That’s why I was considering getting one of those since the buns take turns around the house. Is there anything Else I can do?

Is this the female waiting to be spayed? Her litter habits will likely improve when she is spayed and it can be difficult to litter train hormonal bunnies. Of course knowing that/waiting for spay is not a solution right now.

What have you tried? Does she pee in particular spots or all over? Have you tried placing more litter boxes in her habitat? When is she to be spayed? (just so we know time frame for a temp solution). Placing soft things down can hinder litter training but if nothing is working and she’s going to be spayed soon than maybe laying down junk towels, ect… Might help contain the mess (but won’t encourage good litter habits).
