My 6 month old Netherland Dwarf bunny named Oliver is a very picky eater. So far he will only eat apples, hay, and pellets. I’ve tried giving him broccoli, bananas, cucumbers, carrots, and cauliflower. He won’t touch them at all, won’t even try a nibble. I’m concerned he’s not getting the right nutritional diet that he should be getting. Any ideas on why he’s so picky? Any suggestions on how to get him to at least try something new? Advise on what to do if he won’t eat anything new? I’m just worried about his nutrition.

I think you should try some leafy greens. Those are probably best to start out with. I’d try romaine or cilantro. Those are popular. Remember to only give small amounts when introducing something new to make sure it doesn’t upset his stomach. And try leaving it out for awhile. It takes my picky netherland dwarf quite a while to try something new. Also, offer it a few times if he doesn’t try it the first time.

Finally, make sure not to give too much of the apple (or banana or carrot, if he ever decides he likes those.) Fruit and carrots are basically bunny candy and he should only get a tiny bit.

Here’s an article that explains bunny diets in more detail and has more types of veggies you can try:

Have you tried feeding him leafy vegetables like kale? You could also try more fragrant herbs/veg like cilantro and parsley. Sometimes it’s just a trial and error process. The below link can help give you ideas.

Definitely look at the links Dobby & justwildbeat linked you to for suggestions. There are lots of options out there.
