Hi just a quick question about my bun

My bun is coming up to a year old and weighs 2.3 kilos i was just wondering if anyone thinks that this is overweight

She is a mini lop (UK) which i think for you guys in america that is a holland lop?

Im feeding her excel rabbit junior and dwarf pellets in a small amount 46gs a day alongside kale, spinach, watercress and herbs which i change which equates to 1 bowl a day and hay unlimited

The reason I’m feeding her the junior and dwarf pellets is because it was recommended because of her breed

        Thanks if you can help

There really isn’t any way for us to say for sure. There are acceptable ranges for each breed, but what might be considered overweight varies from bun to bun based on their individual frame size.

Has a vet examined your bun recently? A hands on exam is the best way to determine ideal weight.

You should be able to feel ribs when touching the buns stomach, but they shouldn’t be visible when just looking at the bun. The “waist” area should slightly dip in from the rib cage.

The vet will do the exam when he sees her. Make sure to bring a list of questions with you! I always have to do this because I’ll forget if I don’t write it down!

Also, lop breeds do tend to look pudgy because they have thicker fur and their body shape is naturally more round. My lop had the distinct talent to turn himself into a bowling ball with ears, but he was always a good weight!
