So my new bunny curently has a cage in our basement living room. It was the best place at the time. I feel like it isn’t working out now. There is always people down there and since my sister is sick she’s been sleeping in there and waching tv all day. Chaco seems to be handling ok but she never looks relaxed and is always wide eyed. Also she hasn’t ever seen a cat in her life until moving here and she freaks out and thumps whenever they walk up to her pen. I think she would settle in better if she was in a quieter room where there is no cats. Would setting up a pen in the bunny room be a bad idea? It is Mocha and Lulus territory so would haveing her in there hurt with bonding? They seem to be doing very well with having her in the house! They are even grooming the stunt double!

Another reason having her in the bunny room would help is that it would be easier to take care of her and get to know her better as I am in there a lot more. Not t mention my Mom is already wanting her to be out of the living room. So what do you think. Would moving her into the bunny room cause more harm then good?

I think it’s a good idea to move her. I just would make sure they can’t reach eachother through the cages, especially during playtime.

My other two bunnies are free range in the bunny room so I was thinking I would set up a pen for her and then wrap another pen around it with a few inches Inbetween to protect them from fighting through the bars

The only thing then would be you’d have to have a way to shut those two up when she’s out. You could possibly put her in their cage.

I would probably let her out in a different room.

I think I will move her into the bunny room on Monday when I will be home for a few days to keep an eye on things.

I honestly think it would be fine. I say give it a try at least.

I would give it a try.

Sometimes housing bunnies near each other can create more aggression during bonding so if anybun seems overly aggressive then I might move her out of the room. For the most part though, housing near each other is a great way to start “pre-bonding” stuff!

I agree, and I think that rabbits can kind of keep each other company even without direct contact in the same room. New bun might truly enjoy it.

I was eventually going to house them next to eachother to help with prebonding so this works out good!

When I was bonding each of my four, I put the pens all around each other so the bunnies could see each other but not have direct contact. So that seems like a good idea since you are going to bond them.

i just wanted to put this out there… One thing you should NEVER do is to let a new bunny walk around in a room with an old bunny in his/her pen. Both should be in a neutral environment during playtime when bonding. Plus, an old bunny will get nervous, aggressive and annoyed when a new bunny is around his pen. Also, don’t let a new bunny live free range in a room with an old bunny in a pen. Not good.
