Hello all. I just noticed my mini rex Annie is starting to shed. I’ve read we aren’t supposed to brush her, is there any way I can help get some of that loose fur out? I got a little out just now while we were snuggling. It’s not much yet, but I want to know ahead of time . Thanks!

You can brush Mini Rex’s. All bunnies need to be brushed when they are shedding so they don’t ingest the fur and get an impaction. I found the Furminator worked well on Mini Rex fur. If you use that, you have to be very careful not to overgroom. Running damp hands over the fur is also great for getting loose fluff off.

Thanks puffy tail! There is so much contradicting info about bunnies out there! I’m excited, I love brushing pets lol I think she will like it

Sorry malonso – but I have to ask LPT (I asked on another forum and didn’t get a reply) what is a Furminator? Without knowing what it is – it sounds wonderful! Where/how do I get one? (My boy moulted for 3 months solid, and still loses hair – desperate!). Ta.

Most pet stores sell them. Make sure you get either the Small Pet size or the Cat Size if you have a bigger bunny. Amazon also sells them. They are a bit pricey but worth it IMO.

Like I mentioned, you have to use it gently and make sure to not overgroom as it can leave bald spots and irritation. I found it especially useful for bunnies with short thick fur like Rexs.

Thanks LPT, especially the photo! I’m not sure I can get one here, but I’ll start looking online. I hope the next time Henry moults, it may do the trick? Or at the very least – help! And yes, I will take care using it, thanks for the guidance. Cheers!

If you don’t want to spend the money, you can try using fairy/rubber/latex dishwashing gloves. I use to use that on my old cat that shed a ungodly amount. Also works good on furniture.
