Do you use a water bottle or a bowl? Mine drinks way more from a bowl. You can also try a little tiny bit of natural apple juice in the water to try and entice your bun to drink.

Oh yes, the bowl tends to be easier for them and mine drinks more than double the amount of water from a bowl than from the bottle. Good luck! Let us know how it goes. If it works well, I have this and LOVE it!!

Try a bowl for sure, most rabbits don’t like bottles. Bowls are far easier to clean too!

There’s no reason you can’t do both. I can’t keep up refilling their bowl, but when I’m around I do fill it. Then they have the water bottle, too, in case they run out when I’m gone. They all drink out of the bottle but they all seem to like the bowl better.

Zombie Sue, that’s why I love the replendish. I fill it every 2/3 days. It is super easy to clean and has a replaceable filter. I got it because mine didn’t like drinking from the bottle as much but I was afraid he would run out when I wasn’t home. It was only 10 dollars and a pack of 3 filters is 10 dollars as well. It is one of the best bunny purchases I’ve made to date.

I do bowls AND water bottles especially in the summer. I’m paranoid about them running out. Try adding a bowl to the situation and see if that helps your bunny drink more. It’s a more “natural” way of drinking and most bunnies do seem to prefer bowls. Make sure it’s a heavier sturdy dish so they don’t topple it or throw it. I also know some people use the bowls with a water reserve so they don’t have to re-fill as often.

After reading another forum just recently, and my Henry being a ‘bottle’ boy I thought I’d add the bowl into the mix…..
Luckily Henry hasn’t touched it – cause I can literally see his fur and fluff floating on top, yuck! Cause of where I live and the restrictions I have to endure I have not heard of the replendish, though I’m sure I may be able to buy it online? But in any case, I clean my bottle perfectly, and quite simply with soapy water and a super rinse. With the weather here turning into a heat wave for the next 2 days, I will keep the bowl as a back up, but I think I’ll keep Henry as a bottle fed bunny (and that’s mostly cause he hasn’t touched the bowl) as the basic bowl is to unhygienic for me. Whichever you choose to use, as long your bun is happy that’s all that matters (good idea to give the option/choice). Cheers.

Has a vet confirmed that he’s not drinking enough? Is he showing other signs of dehydration?

I use a bowl, like many here. I very rarely see my bunnies drink from it though. They get a lot of veggies and get much of their water that way. Some bunnies drink a lot, but others don’t and are perfectly healthy.

I did try a bowl but all he did was try and tip it over. I took him to the vet and he said he looks fine. I’m still worried though.

I wouldn’t worry – especially if the vet said he is fine. Rightly or wrongly, I take my vet at his word (especially if you have a good relationship and trust him/her). As I said above – I don’t use the dish (tried it though) cause my boy prefers the bottle and ‘I personally’ find it more hygienic cause Henry loses hair constantly. But if you do wanna use the dish – you’ll need a heavy one (I used a ceramic dog dish) so it can’t be lifted to be tipped. Also, just to give you reassurance – my boy can drink water like no tomorrow one day and on others he barely touches it. I’m not worried in the slightest, cause ‘I know’ my boy and if he wasn’t well I’d notice him before I noticed his water intake. Also, just a suggestion if you feel you wanna measure his intake of water daily (I did this cause I wanted to be sure his bottle worked properly when I first bought it), each morning or night I marked his water line with a marker pen, and after a week I felt assured the water was flowing freely when he used it.
                              All the best Chloe.
