O.k. so sometimes after I groom Honeybunny with a brush I put him on the floor again so he can run around in the family room. (I groom him on a table.) And so he’s running and he eats and plays. while he does that I am watching TV. And soon I hear thumping by the couch. (He normally thumps before getting onto the couch.)

And he jumps onto the couch and I’m looking at him. And, normally if I’m sitting in the middle Honeybunny likes to jump over my legs as if he’s jumping over hurdles. Soon he would get tired and sit by me or on my lap while I watch TV, anyway so he and I are both sitting and watching TV.

And soon he starts nudging me for attention so I start stroking him, and soon I pull out some loose hair right after a groom! Please help me how to get rid of this extra loose hair!

Plucking helps but it can take awhile if they are molting to totally get rid of fur in one sitting.

My boy molted for 3 months (horrific!) and to this day he still loses hair. On another forum it was suggested a bunny may prefer to drink from a bowl as to a bottle, so wanting to be a super bunny mum, put a bowl of water out for him and within an hour I could see a layer of bunny fluff/fur on the surface, yuck! I don’t know this, but I have just accepted that he will lose hair like a cat and most dogs regardless of how much you groom them? Have fun – I’m not! (Lol…).

Wet your hands and run them through the fur after grooming, that way you get a lot of the hairs that have come loose but not stuck to the brush/comb.

My bunny Bam molted for more than 2 months this spring, he looked positively mangy and I was almost worried. I think it could have had sth to do with his (then recent) neuter. Neutered and spayed dogs can shed “all the time”, but it can right itself after some time (couple of years).

                I too have experienced the layer-of-hair-on-the-surface-of-the-water-bowl =)

When they’re shedding, you really have to do lots of sessions, every day or every couple days. One grooming won’t get all the fur out as they don’t shed it out all at once.

Mine seem to shed endlessly sometimes and no matter how long I groom, they are still shedding, so you just have to stop and come back to it another day.

I use a furminator on my boys. It’s only good for the back and the sides, though, not the under-side. But I think it’s efficient, you can get a lot off in one session, although a bunny may look a bit moth-eaten along where the sides and butt sort of becomes under-side. I furminated Yohio on Christmas Day and the pic is how he looks now, you can see the line along his side, although it’s more evident irl. Before the furmination there was a cloud of fur around him whenever I touched him.
