My rabbit’s eye is cloudy and blue. What could be wrong with it? He doesn’t act like it hurts, but doesn’t seem like he can see out of it. He doesn’t look like he has anything in his eye either, like a piece of hay or anything.

Looks like some sort of trauma occurred. You should take him to the vet ASAP. They can use a special light to look at it more closely and determine how it needs to be treated.

I agree. He needs to see a vet. That is not normal. Please keep us updated.

I wish I could help you out I have never seen that before with a rabbit or any animal. I hope he is doing ok. Please let us know how he is.

Yes do tell us what you find out! It looks very much like there was some kind of trauma causing swelling under the cornea. Could even be an ulcer, which you probably wouldn’t be able to see without dye.

Thank you everyone for the help. He is doing good and seems happy and healthy still. My vet doesn’t have any appointments available until the end of the month, so he won’t see him until then. So it will be a while until I know what is wrong with him.

Did you tell the vet what is wrong? Surely the vet can squeeze you in. I wouldn’t think they would recommend letting it fester for a month. Even if my vet is busy, I can always drop someone off to be looked at when they get a moment between patients.

I agree with the others… Possibly even send a copy of the photo by email to your vet to hilight the urgency…. They must have some way of fitting in emergencies between standard appointments.
Try phoning again and tell them you are sending pictures…

I’m guessing there is a trauma, that is what Kahlua and Noot’s eyes looked like after they hurt them-I think both were scratched cornea’s. your vet will likely have to do a dye test (it’s a two part, one anesthetic in a drop one a dye drop) and then prescribe drops. It’s really cheap and easy to fix in both cases so that’s at least good news. Ask your vet if you can go on a waiting list though, for any cancelled appointments-perhaps you can get in sooner.

Yeah, waiting a month isn’t a good idea at all. Hope you can get her in!

That’s crazy! Can you do a drop off? I always do drop off’s and the vet see’s my rabbit’s in between appointments.

Ditto Sarita! I just show up with mine and they sneak them in inbetween other appointments!
