I just got back from the store and romaine, bok choy and kale were on special so I grabbed them.  Then I noticed they were all high in Vitamin A but they are class II not class I so are they OK to feed every day as a combo? I picked up about 1/2 to 2 weeks worth of veggies for about 7 dollars.

        Thanks!

I do kale and romaine every single day. I don’t think Vitamin A is a big consideration (too low or too high).

Romaine and kale are pretty much my two staples for the buns. They get one or the other (or both) every day and I’ve never had any issues.

Since discovering Kale, thanks BBer’s – my boy has it everyday too. And if I buy bok choy, he has that with the kale daily. No probs with Henry!

Marina, it is not high in oxalic acid.

What about the calcium content?Do we worry about that with their urinary tracts?  I found an article that broke down calcium content of everything from Romaine to dandelion greens and now I’m afraid of too many dandelions (actually bought some in the store since it’s winter) and Kale because they have way more calcium than romaine and cilantro.

I serve Cilantro, Romaine and Mint together often.

I stopped feeding kale because Tank rabbit’s urine is ALWAYS milky/chalky, but he eats a lot of romaine lettuce.

                                      Actually, so do I, ahem.

Yes, ZS, I have lots of spring greens in my fridge along with the Romaine. I feel so healthy! But I have four wittle mouths to feed so I try and do the noble thing and leave most of it for them. LOL

You don’t need to worry about calcium content – rabbits just like us need calcium – probably moreso than we do because they have such delicate bones. Calcium in greens is not as concentrated as calcium in pellets.

^ I think EVERYTHING is more concentrated in pellets, lol.

I didn’t mean to mislead anyone with my post, don’t worry about calcium unless you suspect it may be a problem.

Oh no, ZS. I had heard it can be a prob. and didn’t know if I was supposed to take precautions. Glad to hear I can do more Kale because my kiddos told me in no uncertain terms that they were NOT going to eat that bok choy stuff

Our new bunny is about three months old. Is there an age limit in which you can start giving greens to them?
