Hi everyone! I’m new to the site and found it when searching for info for my bunny, Pamper, 4 month old Holland Lop.

I feed her with pellets (limited amount per day) and unlimited alfalfa hay (I know it’s not the best one but I can’t find any other type here in Argentina). Next week we’re going to start trying with leafy greens.

The first few weeks I had her, her pee was yellow but lately (last week or so), and following with the same diet, it’s been a strong color orange. I give her the occasional bite of apple with peel, but I don’t think it’s enough to change the color.

Has anyone else had the same problem? I’m a bit worried

        Thank you.

How long has the pee been sitting there? I noticed that if bunny pee sits long enough, it develops that color.

For a treat idea, I grow some wheat grass for my bun to graze on occasionally.

Rabbit pee ranges from yellow to orange to red. As long as it’s not bloody (spots of blood in the urine) it’s perfectly normal.

Here is an excerpt from the HRS website:

Red urine is a descriptive term for the condition where a rabbit’s urine varies in color from the normal pale yellow to dark yellow, carrot orange, brown, or bright red. Red urine is not a medical problem. The color usually returns to normal within one to three days, although I have had a couple of rabbits take three to four weeks before their urine returned to the pale yellow color. White urine may be due to excess calcium in the diet; if it stays white for many days you may want to discuss your rabbit’s diet with your veterinarian. Dark urine resulting from heat stress or dehydration may require fluid therapy.

Dutchess has an organish pee . . . she is very healthy It’s normal! Just like said above, it should not look bloody or have clumps or anything weird in it.
