I wanted to make a sister thread to https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tab…fault.aspx

One time, my husband and I ordered pizza, and we were curious about if Tank would try to eat it (of course we wouldn’t ALLOW him to) because it’s a lot of animal product and of course he is an herbivore. So we held a slice down into his cage and he RAN to the corner and thumped like crazy, wide-eyed and on alert. I felt so bad LOL. I thought he would just ignore it.

I tried to present some pizza to the twins, who are way braver, before they were all bonded and more or less the same reaction–running in terror, ears up and on alert. Silly bunnies!

Chester hates anything with strong odour – curry, chilli, fish, sauteed onions… Whenever I cook something like that he runs to the bedroom, under the bed. Even if he’s in the middle of a meal! Silly bun bun

This isn’t exactly in line with the prompt, but my bunny had an unusual LOVE of certain everyday objects. He liked to make love to an old oatmeal canister, and the canister never seemed to mind

I’ve also seen a bun make love to a balloon before. He had no idea where “she” disappeared to when the balloon popped mid hump!

I find the pizza thing funny because Moogle and Ashe are both terrified of pizza as well… I was sitting on the floor with Ashe one day eating a slice, and she walked up and ran like she had seen a hawk or something. I tested this on Moogle as well and same reaction. Maybe it’s the scent of cooked meat that freaks them out? I do know awhile back, there was a member that had a rabbit that LOVED pepperoni. The rabbit kept trying to steal it after the first taste.

It’s very tempting to test foods on bunnies, but it’s really not a good idea. Some bunnies will taste something that’s not good for them, like a cookie, and then will want more or try to sneak bites. But if your bunny lets you know he HATES something, take his word for it. He does. Many bunnies hate the sound of cooking meat, the smell, and never get close enough to taste. They are the bottom of the food chain as prey animals, so it’s really in their DNA.

Vegetarians, every last one of ’em. What is bland to us is heaven to a bunny. They are most sensitive and prone to illness in their digestive tract, so food is very important to keep regular and simple, within good bunny guidelines. (See the Diet section of information for a great list of vegetables that are good/not good for them). Think of them as tiny, because a slice of your pizza in their peripheral vision is about the size of a small bird, and may make a menacing shadow, too.

Remember how big we are in relation to them. A cookie to them, size-wise, is like someone offering us the bottom ball of a snowman to snack on. It’s HUGE!

LOL! That’s what I assumed, they were afraid of the meat. I guess it might be a common rabbit thing, but not universal.

Because of this thread, I got the idea to play some music. I thought I try PSY – GANGNAM STYLE because it is such a big internet fad. Every time I turn it on she bolts for her towel bed inside her hutch. She even did it from my room door.

When I clean up the hose better, I am going to see if she still does it with larger distances from her hutch.

She does live in my room and so far the T.V. never bothered her, so it was a bit strange for me to see her react like that

I am not sure if my rabbit does angry teeth grinding noise and here is why I think that.

Her body language in general is nothing like I read about. (I made a thread about that)

So today I tried the present the pizza just to see what she would do. She ran away from it (first time I seen her do this from any kind of food) then looked at me with a very strange mouth movement. It looked like she was trying to grind her teeth on her right side but I did not hear anything. My mom that was looking straight at that side said that is what she was doing after I said i think that is what she was doing.

I asked my mom more about to make sure she saw the same thing and she tried to mimic the chewing. I asked it looked like she was trying to grind her teeth on her right side right? and she said yep.

Lucky really doesn’t hate anything. He tries to steal food constantly, he’s successfully stolen a french fry before. I had no clue he’d even be interested in people food!
Only things I know he hates…when I put my arms out like a big hug. I didn’t think it would terrify him so much (he was in his ex pen) and I put my arms out and he seriously thought he was under attack and ran around looking for shelter. And he doesn’t like strangers picking him up. He bit my mother…she just picked him up and was holding him (he doesn’t like the person to sit down while being held, but he’ll let me hold him for a long time and snuggle)

Hmm, haven’t noticed him be scared of meat. His ex pen is next to the kitchen/dining room (small apartment) so we usually put him in it when we have dinner…because he will seriously beg. And I have little kids who drop food so I don’t want him to get anything!

Did you ever try to present the meat to him. I do not think mine reacts to the cooking of it, the kitchen is far but I can smell it so I figured she can.

I tried putting the sausage near her and she bolted in her hutch. I know they are prey animals and such but how do they know that might be a friend that was cooked?

When I cook and I have hands that smell, my bun is very offended to me. He shows his rump to me, does the foot flick, and literally makes a face! He hates peanut butter.
