        Hi all!

I’m not sure if this issue has been addressed in past posts, but who else is struggling with hay fallout?! I fill my bun’s hay feeder every morning, which is attached to the outside of the cage, and by the next morning at least 50% of they hay is scattered on the carpet. Help! Is there some sort of hay-catcher or technique to fixing this issue? Is there a better hay feeder out there?

It’s normal for bunnies to “pick through” the hay. As they do so, they tend to make quite a mess. Some people put the hay over the litter box so their bunnies can eat and poop at the same time. I suppose it would help with hay containment too. I usually just put the hay in a cardboard box, which gives them room to pick through with necessarily removing it from the box.

I use the litter tray method and that doesn’t really stop them spreading it about either, especially when Pascal burrows under it and proceeds to wear it round the play pen like a hat….
I have tried a few different things but no matter what I try they seem to find a new way of spreading it all over the place..

I use the litter box method too. I have one in the cage and one outside. It still gets a little messy but a lot better than using a hay feeder. I tried using one of those for a short bit and it was just too messy. I would try doing that or just a plain cardboard box for easier clean up.
