I will post the full details so that this isn’t half a story.

we have two mini lops, sisters, both 5 months old, both spayed, been living together since they were born and we took them home.

Honey is the excitable dominant bunny, Scrabble is the more quiet loving bunny. Both love each other, groom each other all the time and are so obviously besotted with each other. They were spayed at 3 months as it was safe because they were showing signs of dominance and sexual maturity. Both have been fine since, we have had a couple of instances with Honey getting a bit carried away and trying to hump her sisters face. We don’t want Scrabble to a. Suffocate or b. nip Honey somewhere where she will not like it so if this happens we gently lift Honey off and stroke them both next to each other, which is always fine.

they have never had a fight or fallen out and they also never display dominance inside their cage. They are house rabbits and although they have a large cage they do have freedom when we are home, so several hours a day

today when we got home I went over to the cage and neither bunny came over to say hello, usually they want to be out as soon as the cage door is opened and do wait for us to open it, nudge with their noses etc. scrabble was sitting in a corner with her behind pushed into the corner and didn’t move. Honey did move around a bit but both stayed in the cage for ages, which is really odd when they know they can get out for a run around. They did sit loafing next to each other but Scrabble didn’t look relaxed. She has since hidden under the willow sticks they have and keeps retreating under there. Honey has been out of the cage and had a hop but isn’t as playful as usual. Scrabble came out for a minute but went straight back to the sticks and is still hiding. We fed them some veg from our hands and they both ate, but both are still acting very quiet, especially Scrabble.

i am concerned that something has happened, if they have fallen out or something. Has anyone had anything like this happen who can help? We both just want the bunnies to be ok!,

Update: after spending an hour or so away from each other they have eaten tea together side by side and are now in their litter box together and have groomed each other so it looks like they are still friends, Scrabble still seems a little on edge. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I don’t like making a song and dance out of nothing but if I think the bunnies are anything other than happy it makes me really sad.

It sounds like something may have startled her or maybe they had a little disagreement. If they’re doing alright now I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
