        Hi all!

I have had my lop, Giles, for a few months (he is about a year old, though) and I cannot seem to get him interested in any toys! I have bought him a tunnel, jingly Petco ball, timothy bungalows, countless types of wood chew toys, bird toys, and nothing suits his fancy. Instead, all he wants to do is eat up my shoes, furniture, and cords! He especially likes chewing on my bathroom cabinet, but like I said, he doesn’t like ANY of the wooden chews I have bought for him. He is very active, with usually at least 4 hours outside of his cage each day, and will run around/binky for a lot of that. I am just worried that his teeth will not be worn down properly and it will lead to complications. He seems so bored when he is in the cage but nothing I give him interests him. Ideas? (by the way, he has been neutered). Thank you so much for reading this!

        -Katie and Giles

All he needs to keep his teeth worn down is a healthy amount of hay (unlimited). I would suggest newspapers, cardboard boxes, or cardboard toilet paper tubes. You might also try stacking cups. Mine like willow balls, and grass mats, but they LOVE dig boxes and tearing paper. Just redirect your rabbit to that if they chew your stuff. You might also want to bunny proof the cords. One cord could be fatal.

Thanks! I bunny-proofed the cords as soon as I saw he was interested! And I always redirect him when he goes for the cabinet, but he literally goes right back to it in seconds. He also doesn’t like cardboard or willow balls! Gah! He does like to tear up paper towels/newspaper but I just assumed since he was obsessed with the cabinet that he “knew” he needed to chew more. He also gets unlimited timothy hay. I’m at a total loss with this goofball!

My bun also does not care for toys at all but I have found that if I put his veggie and pellets into boredom busters he will tear things apart to get at the food. I found a bunch of DIY videos online (some on youtube), that show how to make them. Something like this – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Za5kl5dnnFc (bypass all the stuff at the start of the video).

Yeah…mine doesn’t care about toys either. He doesn’t even like willow or apple sticks or grass mats or wooden cubes! His favourite toy is newspaper. So that’s what he gets! His diet is mainly Oxbow Western Timothy Hay and Oxbow Young Rabbit pellets (both unlimited since he’s only 9 months old) and leafy greens like dandelion, kale, bokchoy, rapini etc…and his vet said a couple weeks ago that he’s in great health. So I wouldn’t bother about toys if I were you. Just give yours lots of hay to chew on..your bunny will be fine

Thank you everyone! I actually got him pretty interested in a willow toy yesterday! That seems to be the only thing he likes, so I guess that’s what he’ll be given!

My rabbits aren’t really too interested in toys either. Even though I have like 5 different toys in their cage. They like chewing cardboard boxes so I have one in their cage to play with and hide in, also willow baskets my goodness they love anything willow!

My buns are obsessed with old phone books. Worth a try.
