I know that there are NIC grids that are 1″x1″, while others are 4″x4″. I know that the latter are dangerous for buns, as they could get their head stuck. That being said, I am having a difficult time finding any NIC grids that are just 1″x1″. Years ago, people on the site have said that some brands are switching to the larger grids. I’m wondering if all of them are larger now that a few years have passed. Has anyone seen 1″x1″ grids around recently? If so, where?

I’m in Canada, if it helps. I’m not against ordering online.

Edit: Also, I’m looking at Walmart.com, and have found “grid cubes”. These LOOK like what I’m looking for, but how do I know that the grids are the right size? Is anyone able to vouch for a particular brand? Is anyone able to confirm that a particular brand has not recently remodeled their product to have 4″x4″ grids? I’m a bit interested in the “Whitmor wire storage cubes”; does anyone know if these are good?

Target  and Walmart have both versions depending if you buy online vs. in the store. For example I got the ones in the store at Target (basically these – http://www.target.com/p/closetmaid-…=wire+cube) and you can clearly see on the picture that the grids are different sizes. If you look at the back panels (vertical) vs. the bottom of the shelf panels (horizontal) you can see it. You need to look at the description and picture closely to make sure you get the right ones. I don’t have an issue with the mixed sizes because I use the big hole grids against the wall and as base for the 2nd level (with cardboard top). I also use them on the top of the second level (ceiling) because my bun does not try to stick his head through. The 6 cube box was 19.99 so it was a good deal to me.

Here are some that appear to have the small spacing

          Amazon – http://www.amazon.com/Whitmor-6070-…rage+cubes

          Target – http://www.target.com/p/set-of-4-st…rage+cubes

          Walmart – http://www.walmart.com/ip/Whitmor-W…6/23750330

njbunny: Thanks a bunch! I hadn’t thought of using larger spaced grids for the bases, and didn’t know if the pictures were updated/reliable. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me.
