For the last couple of weeks I’ve been dealing with and have been primarily focused on the fleas that we’ve recently been attacked with. During this time, Pippin has developed a loss of balance and has also decreased her appetite substantially. At first I thought the loss of weight was due to the twice yearly molt, her fluffiness has been thinning out. She’s not skin and bones and she IS eating but I CAN feel her spine through her fur more than before. The balance thing worries me a lot because earlier this year Pippin suffered from head tilt and all that jazz and had ear mites. She was successfully treated with Baytril for the tilt, but the mites stuck around awhile after that and now I have to flush her ears once a week. So my question is (before I decide to take this to a vet) should I try and use the rest of the Baytril on her to clear whatever is going on in the inner ear? Or are there any other suggestions that might be helpful? I’m going through some financial hardships right now and will go to the vet if absolutely possible. In every other regard, Pippin is acting completely herself, running around and playing and eating greens and hay. Just the balance thing and weight loss together scares me.

Honestly you should never use prescriptions previously prescribed unless your vet advises this – the best thing is to ring your vet and discuss the situation with him/her especially if Pippin has been previously seen for this exact problem.
