So today, I noticed some thick pale fluid coming somewhere out of my rabbit, and I’m really concerned. He seems to be eating and drinking water okay, and he is playing. It’s just that fluid that doesn’t seem normal. Is urine is normally ranging in the orangish color. I just cleaned his cage so i can see if hes going to the bathroom normally. He hasn’t gone yet, but can someone please help, I’m sooo worried.

Bunny pee comes in a wide variety of colours and can often contain some sediment due to their bodies ridding itself of excess calcium. It is quite normal… However there is a condition called sludge where the urine is extremely sedimented and thick, don’t panic it is easily treatable… Keep up with lots of hay and water and possibly cut back any greens with high calcium levels for a few days… Also pellets, check the calcium levels on the ones you use and maybe reduce the daily serving. If it is only occurring sporadically it is normal, if it is ongoing a vet check would be a good idea.

I think he may have urinary tract infection. I’m going to try to take him to the vet tomorrow. I’ve been observing him really closely. He’s pooping quite a bit, still no normal pee though. He’s also not consuming as much water as normal. I’ve been giving him romaine lettuce soaked in water. And I also took his pellets because I think they might have too much calcium. Is there anything at home I can too to help him with it, until I can get him to the vet?

Just get him to the vet as soon as you can and keep up the moist greens and water…

He finally peed!! It was on my bed, but it wasn’t thick it was his normal pee. I’ve never been more excited. I’m so happy

Did you still take him to the vet?

When my Bunbun had a urinary infection she too had thick white sediment type of pee. It wasn’t all the time though but she also started leaving pee trails and was straining a lot when she tried peeing in the litter. She also stopped greeting me and started hiding a lot.

Is your bunny doing that? If so, vet check asap and take a urine sample with you ~
