As I get ready to cook the cranberry sauce, I wonder can I give Porky a few uncooked berries, or maybe a spoonful of the finished sauce?  I know they can get craisins, but those seem less acidic.

If you don’t put any sugar or anything in the sauce it should be fine-I’m not familiar with how one makes cranberry sauce though. I’m not sure about raw-I would think so though because they can eat craisins. They certainly are not poisonous, it wouldn’t hurt to offer her one (if there is a pit or seeds or something, remove those).

Blueberries and strawberries are safe, as are grapes so I would think Cranberries would also be fine.

They might be a bit sour tasting, but you can offer them to see if he likes them.

The sauce is Definitely made with plenty of sugar (because the berries are so bitter) and so I would think ought to be avoided. Often sauce includes additional ingredients, I have some that add different citrus peels, and one at least that has a touch of garlic, so I’ suggest not trying out the sauce.

As others have observed since they are safe dried with some little sugar added I can’t imagine why the fresh berry wouldn’t be healthy. Whether or not a rabbit will think it any more palitable then we do is another question entirely. If you gave one I’d be curious to know how it was received, … and if I get any I’ll offer a couple here just to see the reaction.

I’ve tried given a few (frozen but thawed) cranberries to Yohio, who will eat just about anything. Not cranberries though. But he loves raw rowan-berries and hawthorne-berries.

Craisins he will eat, but they’ve sugar on them.
