So I’m getting a bunny and trying to figure out all the costs. How many pounds of litter do you go through in a month? The litter I am looking at (Woodstove pellets) is 40lbs, how long will this last 1 bunny that is about 5 pounds and very neat? Thanks

          I’ve 2 bunnies, 4 & 5 lb and I use 35 lb pellets/ 2 months. (It comes in 35 lb-bags here).

Your bunny would according to this need about 40 lb pellets/ 3-4 months.

          I’ve two regular-size cat-boxes for each rabbit.

Of course it depends on how often you clean their boxes =) I scoop away soiled litter several times a day and replace it with fresh pellets, but I don’t do a full clean more than once a week – 10 days.

I would figure out what you think you will need, and then get double that amount. Woodstove pellets are seasonal in many places in the country, so come late winter/early spring, you can no longer buy them until the following fall. You don’t want to run out halfway through the year.

We have always bought 6-7 bags all at one time and stored them for the whole year (this was for 2 buns with 2 boxes getting fully cleaned out 2-3 times a week). Now that we only have one bun, I will probably buy 3 bags this winter (I still have 2 full bags left from last winter).

I have one large rabbit and one small rabbit, and I go through a 40lb bag about once a month. I’d expect it to last you at least 2 months, maybe a little longer.
