I just got a two month old holland lop last week and today shes been acting strange, she usually eats tons of hay and her pellet feed but today she seems very apathetical, she just wants to rest , I’ve had her on a pillow on my lap for a while now, just petting her and she made a sort of noise that I can only describe as a honk/squeel kinda noise, just once and for a split second only.

The vet only opens in 8 hours and I’ll be taking her there but I don’t know if shes just being moody or if something is seriously wrong, and I can’t figure out if it was a honk of joy or pain. she usually hops around a ton but again shes just been lounging around today, she did eat today a few times and drank too, she only pooped in the morning though and its already 1AM.

For a normally energetic bunny to become lethargic indicates a problem. Is she still willing to eat now? I hope you can get her into the vet soon. Sorry I can’t be more help, but I can’t say what could be wrong with your bun. Let us know how she makes out.

She sounds like she’s relaxing to me. Rabbits at a young age can go from very high energy to wanting to rest.

I think just monitor her – it could just be that she is growing up.

If it’s been that long without a poop though, I would get her checked out. To go all day without pooping isn’t a good thing for bunnies.

Well I took her to a vet and he gave her an antibiotic and told me to monitor her , I’m starting however to think that she might not be the age the pet store said she was,, from all the pictures I’ve compared to she looks like shes only 4-5 weeks old and not 9 weeks old. Also she was twice the size of her siblings that were also at the store.

That could be a problem – pet stores unfortunately are not always honest about age – sometimes it’s the breeder that sells them to the pet store that is not honest. If she is that age it would be a good idea to get her tested for coccidia – you just need a fecal – ask the vet about doing this.
