so i just got a little Flemish Giant boy who is probably about 3 months now and getting bigger everyday. so litter training started out great and we had no problems but now whenever we let him out to wonder during the day he refused to use his litter box! he poops and pees everywhere its driving me and my boyfriend crazy! I heard you shouldnt neuter before 4 months and when i do get him neutered it will help but is there anything we can do to help now? I have a big litterbox in his cage with carefesh and hay and even some paper for him to tear cuse he loves that to, and nothing else soft in his cage cuse its not wired. should i put more litter boxes around the house??? please help :S

        Thanks

What a stinker! Hehe. The soft thing in his cage should go, he has to much of a need to mark is territory, and soft objects are just WAY to tempting. I would say just keep him in an inclosed area, like one room. And if he has the freedom of the full house you should always. Make sure you have more then one litter box for him. Depending on you size of house you should have at lest two…(guessing its a small apartment.) you could spray him With water when he pees on the floor that may help (just an idea, never had to deal with a marking male before.) other then that… Get him neutered as soon as you can. ?

The marking phase might lessen naturally but likely you will need to restrict where he can roam for the time being. Flemish Giants do need space in the longterm but while he is young, I suggest to cordon off an area he come out into until you see an improvement in the habits.
            Extra litterboxes certainly won’t hurt.
