There’s a sale on Kale but it’s black… Not rotted black. It looks like regular kale, maybe a bit more “crunchy”, and is labeled “kale” at the store. It’s not what you see when you google “black kale” it’s “curly” and the googled kale looks more “flat”. I can nab a picture if none of this is making sense, lol.

Does anyone have experience with this? Is this just Kale in a different color and bunny safe or something else?

          A picture would be helpful!

I found some pics of rather curly black kale when I googled the word in Swedish. It seems to be an old variety of kale that’s coming into fashion again. It’s supposedly a cross between Savoy cabbage and kale. If that’s what you mean it should be ok for bunnies since both Savoy cabbage and kale are rabbit-safe. I give mine Savoy-cabbage but black kale is very seldom for sale here exept in the Farmer’s Market in the “big” city ( like 60 km from here).

Is this sth like what you mean? (pic above)

Yep… Just normal kale but a different colour… We get thecurly purple one too but the buns don’t like it as much as the plain green.

It’s not the same as the other kale but it is kale sometimes called Dinosaur Kale or Lacinato or Tuscan Kale – it’s all I feed my rabbits – I find t easier to store as it’s not all fluffy and my rabbits LOVE it.

              It’s the stuff bam pictured.

Here’s a pic of it. I suppose “purple kale” might be more accurate?

Sounds like it’s safe though. Thanks guys!

I’ve been wondering about this stuff. I’ve seen both the purple and the black (although I don’t think they advertise it as ‘black’ they seem to label it as ‘young’ or ‘organic’) and I wasn’t sure it was safe for the bunnies. :-/
I’ll give it a try when I see it next, Sarita, thank you for the endorsement.

That is not black kale at all MD. It is definitely the picture bam posted. I think the purple kale is perfectly fine though.

Hahahaha, definitely purple kale. My buns LOVE kale but they won’t touch the purple kale. No idea why!

                        Lol, thanks everyone!

I didn’t know black and purple kale existed! I tried it out on the bunnies and the purple kale was a hit. My weirdos like everything.

I never tried purple. My buns love the regular (curly) and Dinosaur kale.
