I’ve been trying really hard to litter train my rabbit.  I’ve read tons of articles saying neuturing will help.  But all the articles refer to spraying.  Ziggy hasn’t sprayed (that I’ve seen).  He’s peed a few times out of the litter box but twice was on his “laundry” (the towels he sleeps with that had pee already on them.) and the other time was once in bed.

I’m assuming, as I’ve read, that the neutering will stop the peeing, but what about the poop?  Ziggy consistantly poops on his favourite stops (the cushion on top of his cage, HIS loveseat that he uses as a trampoline and my bed).  Is he marking with poop?

Sex hormones usually amplify the marking instinct and bunnies mark with both pee and poop. Neutering could definitely help with your issues.

Some things to keep in mind though:
          1. For 4-6 weeks after surgery bunnies usually get worse. This is due to hormones leveling out and dissipating and is usually very temporary.
          2. Some places like beds and couches smell very strongly of people and bunnies LOVE to mark them. Neutering might not solve those issues in particular. Usually the only option is to keep them away from that area.

Hey rayray, as you know, I had the exact same issues with Henry. And yes, all the talk has been about his spraying/weeing on the bed, doh didn’t think to mention the pooping. Yes, once Henry was neutered the pooping stopped just as quickly as the weeing. Henry has been neutered for about 2 months now, and have only had about 4 droppings on my bed since and even that was in the first 2 weeks after his procedure. All good now! So fingers (& toes) crossed that it has the same effect on Ziggy. Cheers.
