I am looking into getting two rabbits soon and I want to save money on their cage so I was considering re purposing furniture from Goodwill or something. But I didn’t know if this is actually safe for the rabbits. Everyone says to use untreated wood when building their own hutches so wouldn’t stained house furniture be bad for bunnies to chew on? Am I better off with one of those cube condos? What do you guys think is best?

I would say probably not – 2 rabbits need alot of space and I honestly cannot imagine any piece of furniture offering adequate space.

Better to get an x-pen or do a C&C cage – neither of those are expensive.

Nic cube condos are really cheap and offer a suitable amount of space. I bought one box of grids for $24.99 and built a 2 by 5 nic condo with a 2 by 2 loft.

I purchased an XL dog cage and a white puppy play pen from Fleet Farm. I attached them together with zip ties and its worked out really well! Inside the dog cage, I rigged up two “lofts” with c&c grids and zipties. I then covered them with laminate flooring and a comfy bed. I also used those baby toys that look like a chain to hold up the sides not attached to the side of the cage. My bunnies love to go on lofts and sleep. The play pen has a little door on it so its really convenient for when its play time outside of the cage. I just took on of the sides of the play pen off so the door of the cage opens up right into the pen. Its cute and my boys love it! I have 2 bunnies in mine
