Hello all! I am new here and had a question.

We been thinking about adopting a bunny, and were looking at some new zealands or similar sized buns at rescues. I was wondering if a xpen (4′ x 4′) was big enough or if I would have to combine two (8′ x 4′). He would get approx. 6 hours out of the cage to free range everyday. Thank you in advance for any advice.

A 4’x4′ pen should be fine, especially with that amount of time out of the cage. If you can manage it, bigger is always better, but 4×4 is a good size.

Make sure to post pictures when you get your bun!

I agree. I love the New Zealand rabbits, I’ve had a few and they are amazing rabbits.

2×4 is the minimum size for one “regular” size bun, but a NZ is a larger than average bunny, so I do think you’d do well with an xpen.

NZs seem to be really smart buns and are sometimes overlooked for smaller breeds. I’m glad you’re looking at adopting one!

Yes, the personality most seem to have attracted me to them.( There also seem to be quite a bit in rescues near me)Of course, even if they weren’t like that i would still love them. Thank you all again for advising me, I am loving this forum so far!
